My daughter was married last Friday...civil ceremony, we will be having a Christian ceremony on June 16th in my sister's back yard. Danielle (my daughter) dropped "the bomb" on us the weekend prior to Memorial Day weekend, so we have had about 4 weeks to prepare. Actually, once I got over the shock, I am rather enjoying the ease of planning a small wedding and forgoing the BS that goes along with a large, months-of-planning, church wedding (not to mention the expense!)

No, she's not pregnant! Her (now husband!) is a Marine (MP), and has been on active duty since Jan. 2003 and did a tour in Kuwait and 2 in Iraq. As of this January he has been in the inactive reserves and has until Jan. 2011 in the reserves. Three weeks ago he received a letter that they want him back...if he goes voluntarily he may be able to get placed on a base that is currently not deploying troops; if he doesn't go now, he will be ordered later. Well, Casey (my new son-in-law) and Danielle apparently had made plans to get married in two years and this sped things up since they just don't want to be apart. I was concerned about a few things (amount of time they have known each other; Danielle finishing college; her age - she is 20 and he is 24, but I can't say much because I was 20 and hubby 23 when we tied the knot 24 years ago) but she is a smart cookie and they had discussed and made lists of pros and cons of different scenarios and this is what they really want. I was mostly sad about her moving as we are very close and I wasn't quite ready for this! However, I got a grip and reminded myself that children do grow up and leave.

The great thing is we really love Casey and they make a good match. I know his dad (he teaches and coaches football at our High School) and since his family lives in the same town I KNOW they will make trips back....maybe even settle back in Michigan, if the economy ever improves!

Just wanted to let you know what was consuming my time these days...along with work, physical therapy, drs. appts, lab appts...blahblahblah. You all know how it is - LIFE!!!!  :)

Congratulations! Sounds exciting. It is very hard to see them go and it takes a while but eventually you will adjust. I suspect your phone bills are about to grow huge. Take care of yourself, not too much stressing out now. I'm sure it will be perfect and a lot of fun. Be sure to post pic's for us.

Jill, I am so excited for you. I bet the day was lovely. You have raised her well and is the woman she is because of your example and leadership. It is hard to let them go into the world to make their own mistakes but they are in love and life is good. Is is wonderful you have something to celebrate and we always need good things in our lives to offset the bad. Oh to be 20 again --- young and in love, it doesn't get any better than that!!
