just  curious  to  see  if  any  one  or  every one  has  a  nickname  for  their  dialysis  machine.


mine  is  affectionately  known  as  "pumpa"

Ours all have names. Mine is Popeye and my RO is Olive Oyl, which I named.

I don't know what I will call my NxStage machine, but if I had ended up getting the Fresenius 2008"K", I would have called it Kay or Katie. I know it's corny, but oh well.

-Diagnosed with ESRD (born with one kidney, hypertension killed it) Jan 21st, 2007
-Started dialysis four days later in hospital (Baxter 1550-I think, then Gambro Phoenix)
-Started in-centre dialysis Feb 6th 2007 (Fres. 2008H)
-Started home hemo June 5th 2007 (NxStage/Pureflow)
-PD catheter placed June 6th 2008 (Bye bye NxStage, at least for now)
-Started CAPD July 4th, 2008
-PD catheter removed Dec 2, 2008-PD just wouldn't work, so I'm back on NxStage
-Kidney function improved enough to go off dialysis, Feb. 2011!!!!!
-Back on dialysis (still NxStage) July 2011 :(
-In-centre self-care dialysis March 2012 (Fresenius 2008K)
-Not on transplant list yet.

I have used all four machines in my pod at the center I never thought of naming any of them only thought of naming the experience on them. and you would have to as they say.. block me if I told you :-X  Boxman55

I am like boxman in that we share the same feeling (I think) toward the bit$#.  I can accept the fact that this machine is a huge part of my life and I will not mistreat it but I do not like it in any way and my nameing of it/them would most likely offend the majority of the readers here so I shall refrain.

Hephs first cycler was called Boris, we haven't named this one yet, I think it looks like a griselda but Heph say's it's definately a male because he doesn't want to share the bedroom with another women. You think cute, right! But then you think, OH, but you wouldn't mind sharing with another man!  :rofl;

My first PD machine was named Fred.  I call the one I have now "CY" for cycler.  Yep, not original at all.

  I affectionately call mine Bruno, after a late uncle that worked with water (and huge rocks and dirt from the North Sea floor) to connect the island I was born on to the mainland.    Bruno has been very good to me for nearly 2 years!   :thx;   :bandance;   :cuddle;   :bow;   :2thumbsup;

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

My center has 30 machines, im not smart enough to come up with 30 different names, unless I name them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc

I think I'm going to call my NxStage "Sir Lancelot" I also call my catheter "Kathy". I don't know if I'll call my graft anything. Oh, geeze I need a life  :urcrazy;.

As I dialyze in a different room each time, (I have demanded a private room and also make the tech take the needles out of the pack right in front of me, as I refuse to get AIDS or Hepatitis for the sake of saving them some time or being politically correst to other patients, namely this one lunatic called Angie, who claims that she can a transplant, but she doesn't want one, even though I've heard her begging the doctor to get her on the list., but he says no because of her condition. Hey, I'm on the transplant list, and those other peoplle aren't worth losing a kidney over, they wouldn't do it for me  if the shoe were on the other foot) I know all machines in that Hell-hole as Satan, because if that center isn't hell on Earth, I don't know what is.

My machine would have to be named after my 1st ex - wife DIANNE. The only difference is the machine sucks the blood out and returns it, the ex did not  :thumbdown;
