The only way to deal with loss – as a horribly unwelcome guest that you know will show up eventually. And so you deny it and reject it and ignore it and laugh in its face. You toss it out into the street and push it away and fight it off, and only it has landed square in your  lap, only then do you deal with it.

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

It is only by following your deepest instinct that you can lead a rich life, and if you let your fear of consequence prevent you from following your deepest instinct, then your life will be safe, expedient and thin.

that is so funny, boxman, I made a test for my husband's health class and that was one of the questions
What are the three grand essentials to happiness in life as stated by Joseph Addison?
these are 9th grade students who should have read the chapter
one answer -- sex, beer and the lottery
I made the easiest test and almost everyone failed it
it is sad how much we have to water down curriculum

There are 2 types of people in this world. Some are givers and some are takers. The takers may eat better, but the givers will sleep better.
