Renal Status:  my husband of 11 years has been on PD for 2.5 years due to diabetes and high BP, not a transplant or hemo candidate
What you do for a living:  Administrative Assistant, currently on (permanent?) leave of absence to care for spouse
What you want to do for a living:  need (and "want") to work from home, transcribing, editing, proofreading...any suggestions?
Relationship:  Married to second husband 11 years

What you do for a living: Was a customer service/collection Manager for a large cell company
What you want to do for a living: Enjoy my family and friends/do machine embroidery
Relationship status: LD relationship since May 2004, moved here for better medical care and sons are here so sometimes pretty lonely but he and I talk several times a day and visit every 3 months for a couple of weeks.
Siblings: 2 sisters in MN and ND, 1 brother in ND.
Pets: Dust Bunnies.  My former hubby made me sign contracts to allow them to live with us.
Three bands you would consider to be your favourite: Beatles, Alabama and a local hard rock band my daughter in laws brother is drummer for.

Lost vision due to retinopathy 12/2005, 30 Laser Surg 2006
ESRD diagnosed 12/2006
03/2007 Fantastic Eye Surgeon in ND got my sight back and implanted lenses in both eyes, great distance & low reading.
Gortex 4/07.  Started dialysis in ND 5/4/2007
Gortex clotted off Thanksgiving Week of 2007, was unclotted and promptly clotted off 1/2 hour later so Permacath Rt chest.
3/2008 move to NC to be close to children.
2 Step fistula, 05/08-elevated 06/08, using mid August.
Aug 5, 08, trained NxStage and Home on 9/3/2008.
Fistulagram 09/2008. In hospital 10/30/08, Bowel Obstruction.
Back to RAI-Latrobe In Center. No home hemo at this time.

Worst injury you've had: Had two fingers ice skated over when young.  had a finger stuck in a motorcycles chain between chain and sprocket.  Had to restart motorcycle and put in gear to get finger out.  A few car crashes. never while i was driving.  I hate to be a passenger anymore
Drink/Smoke?:  use to drink like a fish.  Rarly drink anymore / Smoke so so hard to stop :-(
What time do you usually go to bed/wake up: bed around 9 turn tv timer on for an hour and a half rarly hear it go off.  Up at 5:30....    But i wake and toss and trun many many times each night
Favourite colour:  red and black??
Favourite food:    To many.  Guamanian/italian
Favourite alcoholic drink:   KhaluaColada.  It is basicaly a pina coloda with a shot of khalua in it.  Very tasty.  If beer i like trying all the imports i can find.

Best achievement in life:   I had a rough ROUGH life.  Never thought i would make it past 25.  So im alive not well educated but great streetsmarts.  Adn i have an Excelent job.  I am blessed and fortunate to be alive IMO.  Also meeting karen has been one oif the best parts of my life.

Worst injury you've had:  Even tho I do not remember it cuz I was 4 years old, I was in a tornado, April 3, 1974 and I have a HUGE scar across my forehead.   The whole family lived through it but only by an angel being w/us........we were all still in the house and nothing was left of the house but the foundation!!!!!  We all have scars to prove we were in it, it was so sad............Also, another injury that is horrible is when I have seizures, that FEELS like a freaking inury!!!!  Those are awful!!!!
Drink/Smoke?:  drank during the teenage years and in early 20s but not anymore..........use to smoke until recently, never really liked it, Thank God!   :clap;
What time do you usually go to bed/wake up:   it just varies, no particular time
Favourite colour:  purple & yellow
Favourite food:    any fast food place or just about any southern cooking but I also can eat breakfast anytime of day too
Favourite alcoholic drink:   use to be Purple Hooter Shooters!!!!   :rofl;
Why people like you:  compassionate, good listener, sense of humor, determined
What people dislike about you:  because I DO speak my mind, stubborn/hard headed (been told that MANY times)   :rofl;  worry wart
Best achievement in life:   graduating from high school AND college (an Associates Degree), worked GOOD jobs despite my physical disability

I have had 2 grafts the last one finally "took"
I had 3 different catheters from Nov. 06 - Dec. 08
Got on the transplant list - Halloween Day 2008

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.    I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SOOOOO TRUE!

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

Why you belong to this forum: Short answer, because I am frightened.  Longer answer, I suppose its because I really don't know where to turn.  I don't know much about what to expect, and I know even less about how to adapt.  I think I joined because I want to hear the truth, from people who really know what they are talking about.  And, to hear that I am not alone.  I would also hope that if I am here long enough, I will be able to give back to those who follow behind me.  For now, its purely selfish that I have joined this group, with the intent to develop my coping mechanisms.
