Good story:

I'll try to ask my nephrologist if the kidney transplant precludes me from donating other body parts.

Transplant July 2017 from out of state deceased donor, waited three weeks the creatine to fall into expected range, dialysis December 2013 - July 2017.

Well on dialysis I traveled a lot and posted about international trips in the Dialysis: Traveling Tips and Stories section.

That link did not work for me, but I have a subscription to National Geographic so should be able to read it in the upcoming issue.  I did Google her, and this is quite an amazing story.  Thank you for posting about it.

Let us know what your neph says about transplant patients becoming donors.  I'd always assumed that no, we wouldn't be allowed to donate because of the drugs we've had to take.  I had always been a regular blood donor, but when I had to start taking just one bp med some years after I was diagnosed with fsgs, the blood bank told me I was no longer acceptable because of that reason.  I remember being so upset.  But that was a long time ago, so maybe the rules have changed.

A real tragedy is when the face is rejected: https://bangordailynews.com/2019/09/23/news/new-england/nh-woman-who-received-face-transplant-after-domestic-violence-attack-now-needs-a-new-donor/

No matter how bad dialysis or transplant is, all you have to do is look at someone like this and realize how much worse things could be.
