Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  I am Anne, my wonderful husband is the dialysis patient.
His story:

Last yr he had open heart surgery in Feb.  This was followed by  a slight stroke, 6 days
after.  Then, late in March he was diagnosed with kidney failure.
He is on hemo. 3 days a week.  He is finally starting to feel better, last yr was a very
tough one for us.

I have been reading your boards, and found them very helpful.  Thanks for making a place
for people with this terrible condition to share thoughts.

Anne

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome!!  So sorry I didn't say my hubby's name, it's Les.

We are from New Jersey.  Once again, thanks for the boards, and the chance to
talk and read about everyone's experiences.

  :waving; Hi Anne,
I hope this year is better and the health issues stabilize a bit. The dialysis really can make a difference.
This is a great place for info and support, and caretakers are so important too!
Best wishes,
Karol

Welcome Anne to IHD.

As a caretaker you have to be a special person. Sounds like you have a great attitude and I'm glad this year is going better. here is a link for caretakers; http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=33.0

Feel free to read all you want and post often. This is the best support system you can find.

Thanks for taking an interest in IHD.

Hi Ann and Les and welcome to IHD.  You will find lots of answers to your most basic questions on this site.  It gives you freedom to ask your doctor the more pressing ones (after you already know the answer) Ha!

Why did Les lose his kidneys?  Was it related to the treatment for his heart?    :welcomesign;

Hello Anne and Les, Welcome to ihatedialysis.com.  Please feel free to read through all the posts and add any information you may have or even questions you need to know of your own.  We are also an awesome support group.  You will never be alone.  There are many spouses here that are caregivers and i am sure they are always willing to give their support as well.  Have you thought of going on PD or is he getting prepared for a transplant?  Please let us know how he is doing (and yourself also)  Welcome to the family. Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.
 :2thumbsup;

Welcome to the site.  As a caregiver you are going to see things from both sides of the fence.  Your husband only sees it from his side.  Be patient with him.  I hope you have found time to read some of the information here.

Welcome to our community!  This is just the place for you guys to be.  This site was developed to be a place where anyone with any connection to this renal challenge (or even no connection at all) come and find information.  Knowledge is power. It is also a place to vent when you need to.  You can be sure that there are people here who understand EXACTLY what you are going through and who will be very honest with you.  In fact, this site has developed into a really supportive family.  So read and read and read, and post and post and post, and question and question and question, and rant and rave and vent.  This site is for you!
