Two family members got tested and both got the go ahead for the next round of testing to give me their kidney.  :bandance; :yahoo; :2thumbsup; :wine; :beer1; :cheer:

Before I go too crazy celebrating, they do still need to go through another round of tests - not sure what they are. I think just echos and such to make sure they won't have a hard time going under. I'm really not sure though.

They're coming down here in August to get that done and *hopefully* one of them will get the go ahead and we can get this all scheduled this fall. Fingers crossed!

Great to hear your good news! Congrats!! There's a lot of people on here doing well with their transplants, hopefully you will have your own success story to share soon, too!

Great news Fabki! How long have you been on dialysis? Are your donors older or younger and close in size?

This is wonderful news. It's hard to walk that line of optimism and caution. Wishing you all the best.

My name is Bruce and I am the caregiver for my daughter Holly who is 31 years old and received her kidney transplant on December 22, 2016 :)
Holly's Facebook Kidney  page: https://www.facebook.com/Hollys.transplantpage/

Holly had a heart transplant at the age of 5 1/2 months in 1990. Heart is still doing GREAT!  :thumbup;
Holly was on hemodialysis for 2.5 years-We did NXStage home hemo from January 2016 to December 22, 2016
Holly's best Christmas ever occurred on December 22, 2016 when a compassionate family in their time of grief gave Holly the ultimate gift...a kidney!

So, both potential donors just finished their second rounds of testing. One is almost a definite shoe in. The other we're pretty sure is also gonna get the stamp of approval. It has not been lost on any of us how unbelievably blessed we are to potentially have options - or even just to get this far with two people.

My goal is to at least have a surgery date set by my one year mark in October.  :cheer:

It's always good to hear about some one graduating.from dialysis, some of the happiest people I know are exdialysis patients that have been transplanted.  I hope you join them soon.
