Just curious.  Before we started dialysis, everything I read said 2 hours per day, 5 days a week.....the nephrologist said, "Oh, NO!...you must do 3 hours, 5 days a week".  Well, hubby said that was a "no go"....so, because of his clearances, he now does 3 hours, 20 mins for 4 days a week.

So..what does everyone else do?  I know it's all dependent on YOU and your body's functions....like I said...just curious!

The NxStage marketeers seem to like to talk about the home hemo times for a 90lb female.

My Rx is 40L, FF48 (which allows me to run at 12L/min dialysate), for an on time of 3:29, not including any additional time if there are alarms for a 5 day/week schedule.  My EDW is 109.5kg and my URR generally runs between 45% and 51%.

I was on a 30L Rx running about 3 hours, but I was coming in just over 2.0 weekly Kt/V.   I did not like being at the edge of acceptable (2.0 is the goal), so I asked the RN for a better Rx.  The current Rx gave me 2.6 this month and 2.7 the month before.

I try very hard to do 2 days on, one day off. I quite often manage every other day 2 hours (about 20 liters) and pat myself on the back when I manage 2,5 hrs or 2 days in a row. My bloods are fine, I'm fine (still after 20+ yrs D plus 13 yrs transplant)

I still do everything myself (when I can use both arms) bar bringing the boxes up to my D-room or emptying a near full abandend Sak.
