There was a show on TV earlier and appropriately while I was consuming dinner that featured a restaurant that makes a very special burger.  This monstrosity consisted of 6 half pound patties with cheese on each stacked with a footlong toothpick through the middle holding it all together.  It didn't look very appetizing.  You should have seen the fries order that went with it.

I have to agree with PoohKari. 5 Guys has made its way to Georgia, and it's AWESOME! It is the ultimate in "do one thing, and do it right". They have burgers, hot dogs, fries and onion rings. Their burgers and fries can't be beat!

OK, I went to In n Out today and ordered me a #1 Animal Style/Xtra Toasty burger :)  It was good (and very messy) Sam ordered for me and i didnt realize i was ordering a double double, that was alot of burger :P  1/2 way through it, i had to swallow 6 Renagels cuz of the guilt of eating that cheese, I can honestly say although the cheese was good, i think i am used to eating my burgers without  ::)  After finishing my burger i ate a Fosrenol also.  ;)   My niece ordered her fries Animal Style and i think i enjoyed those more than the burger.   :2thumbsup;  Next time i think i will stick with my good ol' #2 burger with grilled onions  :clap;

CNN Headline News is reporting a new contender for world's biggest burger today.  I caught the story out the corner of my eye but the burger was produced here in California and weighs in at 222 lbs.  Their website doesn't link to the story so you'll have to catch it on TV today or tomorrow at the latest.

There are few places I will still eat burgers at but I've gotten away from eating ground beef in restaurants especially a few of my local fast food places where I received under cooked beef patties.  They were fined and the workers retrained but it just soured me totally on those places.

Fast food & Drive In's; Burger King, Dairy Queen; Burger Master, A & W and Zeke's Drive In (Just outside Gold Bar, WA along Stevens Pass Hwy 2.  They have a huger burger called the Honeymoon Burger).  Hubby likes Smokey's Char Broil too but I think their burgers taste too much like frozen burgers.  I mean I know that most places use frozen stuff but not all taste like it.

Restaurants; Billy McHale's, Applebee's, Claim Jumper (huge burgers), Muckleshoot Casino, a few other casino's and some bars I can't think of the names right off hand and then Red Robin as the old stand by.

These are all in WA and fairly close by with the exception of Zeke's which we go to in the summer.  Which one I eat at depends on my mood because they're all different.

Nothing beats a burger....plus, they are a great way for me to get some of that coveted protein that I always need to eat more of!  :2thumbsup;

My favorites are the Burger Bar in the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.  They have three grades of beef to choose from, several different buns, cheeses, and toppings so you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want.  They even have lobster and truffles if you want to go all out!   Second favorite has got to be Miner's in Yakima, WA.  It's *famous* around these parts and I'm always running into people who, upon learning I grew up in Yakima, ask me if I've ever been to Miner's.  Interestingly, I never ate there until I sometime after I graduated college.  Finally, Red Mill Burgers in Seattle.  They are pretty close to Miner's and oh so delicious.  My biggest complaint is that they took their tater tots off the menu.  Curses!

(alene writing) I am quite fond of Krystal Burgers and loved White Castle as a kid, but by far the best burger is Tommy's Chili Cheeseburger from the original Tommy's stand at the corner of Rampart and Beverly in Los Angeles as is evidenced by the big smile on this tourist's face:

My two favorite burger places are 5 Guys and Fuddruckers.

The best thing about 5 guys is that they cut their own potatoes, and from experience, I know they have to be soaked therefore they are lower in K than other fries...which means better labs for us patients    :yahoo; :2thumbsup;

If I have to go with fast food, my choices here in Florida are Whataburger first then Wendy's and Burger King.  Steak N Shake is also decent, but I prefer their shakes to anything else (Always order with vanilla ice cream instead of the shake base...trust me!!)  I have also had Jack In The Box, which is good.  Didn't have a chance to go to In N Out while in Vegas, but will the next time I'm out there.

Another place that comes to mind is Kopp's in Milwaukee.  I have gone there a couple of times while my wife and I were up there visiting her family.  Those are some good burgers as well.

I'm sure there are other places that I have been that have really good burgers...just can't think of them.

You can go to citysearch.com and one of their links is best burgers for a particiular city.  Sometimes the fast food joints show up, but also some restaurants will appear as well.  Sometimes, you might want to look under best fries, because a good burger is usually accompanied by good fries as well.

Even though I have been on a diet the nutritionist said it's ok to have a Double/Double at in-n-out burger occasionally - as long as I have it protein style (no bun, wrapped in lettuce) and instead of the spread (which has mayo) I order it with ketchup, mustard and pickles only. Sometimes I add grilled onions. I skip the french fries and malt! Still makes me happy!

If you're ever in the North Bay of California (also known as the Wine Country) first off, come say hi!  Then I'll take you to the most amazing burger joint north of the Golden Gate...Mike's One Burger in Cotati.

For the last five years, this location has won the Best Burger Joint in the local independent paper's reader survey.  Be warned, they don't serve french fries (I know, what a travesty) but their menu explains why.

Every time I have a guest and they're in the mood for some good protein, I take them there.

Oh yeah, and the waitresses are gorgeous.

Here in Dallas there are several:

Snuffer's - great burger and loaded cheese fries
Jakes

When I lived in Ohio, White Castle was the best after a night on the town.  Living in Texas I now have to settle for the frozen.  We do have one our two Krystal's, same kind of burger as White Castle but for some reason I like White Castle's better.  The next day stinks though and I'm not talking about being hung over.
