Hi - I original became a member of this site because I was helping my brother with NxStage Home dialysis.  We did this for about 5 yrs.  He had been on in-center dialysis for 22 yrs.  Unfortunately he passed away in 3/14.  Back in 1987 I tried to donate a kidney to him, but ended up finding out that I also had a kidney problem.  This may have saved me all these yrs from having to start dialysis sooner rather than later as I was able to really watch my diet, BP etc closer than I would have otherwise.  My GFR is now down to 18, so I guess it won't be long before I'll have to start.  I was hoping to get a transplant before having to start, but I'm not counting on it.  I'm grateful for this site.  I've been able to find not only answers to some of my questions but also new treatment information.

Welcome back. Some of the names have changed.  We too have lost members, and it hurts every time.

I'm am so sorry to hear of your Brother.  This desease doesn't come with a lot of warning, and the severity with some is far worse than others.

That's one of the biggest problems.  We can't know enough, and are always looking to learn more.  Anything that will help each one bear the burden another day at a time.

I am hoping you find many answers in here.

I'm sure you know that you've only need but ask.

Take Care,

Welcome back to the site.

Hopefully some treatment options are better than what you recall with your brother. Sorry to hear of his passing

I wish you the best of luck.
