Hallo,
I have been wondering whether or not Videos have become redundant these days?
“In the old days” I collected some favourite cheer-up-films on Video to watch on days,
when my health was very poorly and, whilst hoping for better days, I watched a little “cheer-up” ...
... Now, with the available huge film-collection on “you-tube”,
I wonder whether or not it would be a little hasty to “get rid” of those videos?
What do you think?

We utilize our library for current videos and don't really watch older movies (but could if we wanted to).  That being said if you have movies that make you feel good, I'd keep them around as long as the DVD/VCR player keeps going and is still plugged into the TV.  You never know when your internet will go out for a week and not get fixed (since TV/internet providers are so sketchy)...

I agree with iolaire, you never know when your computer might crash. You might also want to keep videos around for the occasional "old fashioned movie night" with your husband...you can sit back together and get all warm and cozy with a blanket and a treat and pop in one of your old favorite movies. Make it into a "date night" and have some fun!

Husband had ESRD with Type I Diabetes -Insulin Dependent.
I was his care-partner for home hemodialysis using Nxstage December 2013-July 2016.
He went back to doing in-center July 2016.
After more than 150 days of being hospitalized with complications from Diabetes, my beloved husband's heart stopped and he passed away 06-08-21. He was only 63.

There are some programs and movies if you did not get them on DVD you will never see them again.
I love Babylon5 and if I did not have it on DVDs I would not get to enjoy it.
I did get rid of a vast VHS collection, as I have updated a lot of movies to DVD format.

I am a Apple user.  I buy my movies from iTunes and they for the most part are available on the iCloud.  I  keep a copy on my iMac.

Guess I really showed my age and the fact that I'm not high-tech when I went to a store and asked where their music cassettes were. With a smirk on his face and out loud mind you, the young employee said "Ma'am, we don't even sell those anymore!"  :shy;

and obviously I made a mistake somewhere, perhaps I had the wrong "updater" or the wrong DVD ...
... But I shall try again...
