Hi,

I fear that I'm picking up a cold, I rarely get sick so this is the first time it's happened since we began dialysis.  I plan on calling the nurse later and see what extra precautions we need to take for my husband's treatments, but I thought I'd ask here as well,  how do you manage your care partner getting sick during treatment and in general?

I don't seem to have a full blown cold (no nasal congestion, sneezing, etc) but I do have some chest congestion beginning.

EDIT: note, I do all the fluid connections normally and put him on/take him off.  He has a chest cath.  The only part he can't do himself is the take on/off.

Well ... as you said ..... call the nurse.

My first reaction would be ... wear a mask, clean hands, clean hands, clean hands. My blessed wife wears out a bottle of GermX every day and she has not even been sick yet.

And then .... TAKE CARE of your self. Your husband needs you !!!!

If you are sick or even JUST need a break call the clinic he use to go to and they will take him back for a few treatments.

That should not be a problem.
