I'd read that yesterday, Zach, and couldn't understand why there has to be this choice between athleticism and body image for women players. It's a disgrace. What do we insist that women must look a certain way for them to be considered shaggable? And for women like Maria Sharapova to insist that she wouldn't lift weights of 5lbs is just ludicrous. If what she wants more than anything is to be "pretty", then she is in the wrong line of work because she has spent years trying to beat Serena and can't even come close. And for Radwanska's team to say that "they" (men?) want to keep her the smallest woman in the top 10...what the xxxx is that even supposed to mean? It's just envy, pure and simple. Serena Williams has had to put up with sexism and racism and all kinds of isms in her career, but she must be laughing now because no one has been able to beat her since last year. Oh, and while this article brought out all of the sexists, at least the NYT could have held the racists a bay by asking Sloane Stephens the same questions.
It's interesting to see how everyone is so different. I for one am mighty glad those days are over. I wouldn't want to watch 'people keeping fit' being pretty, and elegant while they are playing a sport. Serena is very pretty, and feminine outside her sports. And yes I'm jealous
