I've always had this thing were just as I'm falling asleep, I'll feel this sort of electrical jolt that makes one of my legs jerk. It's gone as soon as it happens. I never happened frequently and I never thought much about it. The last couple of days, my whole body has jerked like this ever time I've started to fall asleep so I finally did a web search and found the term Myclonic Jerk that seems to be it. It doesn't look like anything serious, but I saw references to kidney disease as a possible cause. Does  this happen to anyone else out here?

I have/do that occasionally.  Not even weekly. But when it does it is, in one word, ELECTRIC.  Like a bolt of lightninng zaps and every muscle in my body gives a violent jerk.  It will really wake me up.

Never bothered to look for the name.

Have no idea if it is more common to kidney patients, or anyone else.

I've always known that I'm NOT normal.  I can remember having these even as a kid.  Just never often enough to be any problem.

Brother has something called 'Benign (Sp) Tremors',  shaky hands if he doesn't take his pill and/or has more than just one cup of coffee.  I get shakes, don't know if it is going to progress yet or not.  Suspect these are small electrical disturbances.  Like I said.  I am NOT normal.

It happens to me occasionally. I'm not a kidney patient, I think it's a nervous system thing.

I've had these occasionally. Mostly when I was younger, just every once in awhile. I thought it was caused by being overtired. Had no idea they were more common with kidney patients but I really haven't had them in years.

May nut be either of these. It could be periodic leg movements - involuntary movements if the legs.  They can occur during sleep too and although you cannot remember them, they do wake you up they can interfere with sleeper.  If they are bothersome, may be worth getting a sleep study. Done.
