World's Best Beach..Lanikai..Oahu, Hawaii

« on: March 26, 2007, 08:18:18 PM »

Nothing is planned as of yet but I would like to propose a location for when it does happen.  How about world famous Pink's in Hollywood?  I eat there once or twice a year and for some reason one of those times is always the day I'm coming back from my yearly UCLA transplant appointment.

Have a look at the menu and see if Pink's appeals to you...http://www.pinkshollywood.com/pgz/menu.htm

Kit...you're on.  Today the IHD Secret Scouts will be at Pink's.  Meeting time is noon in the long line at Melrose and LaBrea.  The weather is perfect, not a cloud in the sky today, and it should be around 70 F at lunch time.

I'll take a New York dog, a chili cheese dog, and a side of coleslaw...no dinner tonight.

Pink's didn't pan out today.  Pink's is kind of an outdoor place.  Over a few hours this morning the weather morphed from blue and beautiful to something like the tornado scene from "The Wizard of Oz".  The boys and I consoled ourselves with some Chinese food from Panda Express.  We'll plan on Pink's again hopefully on a much nicer day than we had today.

But Rolando...if you take one of each you'll explode before the 4th hot dog.  Take my advice and eat only two.  Didn't you just shake some gastro problems?

There is no longer an Aladdin in Vegas. Planet Hollywood bought it for a hotel and casino.  Nothing stays the same in Vegas for long!

According to Pink's website: http://www.pinkshollywood.com/  "Pink's Hot Dogs is now the official hot dog of the legendary Greek Theatre, and is also served at Hollywood Park Casino and at Planet Hollywood (The Aladdin Hotel) in Las Vegas." -- but I don't see it anywhere on Planet Hollywood Las Vegas's website.

Ewww...the Aladdin! My husband and I just stayed there in May for our honeymoon. We DON"T recommend it! It is now the Planet Hollywood Hotel. We were never informed that it had changed and were expecting the old Aladdin. The main level has been redone to look like disco/untra-modern-ish, they play obnoxious music sooo loud, we could here it from our room 25 floors up all night and they tried charging us $350 for a dime sized hole in the wall that was already there when we got there. Boy, was the fight to get the charges off our credit card ugly! And the customer service and desk people are RUDE! Oh yeah, and we never had hot water either!

I am sure there is a GREAT BIG price difference from the Aladdin to the Luxor or the Belagio,  my friends just came back from Vegas and for 4 nights, they were charged over $600.00.   That is freaken outrageous.  Damn, all we need is a place to sleep and shower, why are they so freaken expensive?  :urcrazy;

True, the prices are different... but the really all the casino/hotels are expensive except the one's on the old strip (Downtown LV) (Fremont and such area). But as I have stayed in the Luxor and a few others, they are  so worth it.. in my opinion (for special occasions that is).. their beautiful and awesome. :)

I know. I am on a budget myself, I don't get enough money to live on.  :P I was just saying, that there is nice hotle/casinos out there, even though expensive, they are gorgeous.. and I did mention, I would only do that for a "special occasion", like a wedding, anniversary, w/e... something you don't do but once.  :lol;

I think the prices are very outrageous, but they are beautiful rooms.

We decided, since it was our honeymoon, to go for the better suites (with hot tubs!  ;) ). For half of the week, we stayed at New York New York (which was great!) and the rest of the week, at Planet Hollywood (we thought it was the Aladdin tho). Both rooms were expensive, but we figured it was a once in a lifetime experience for us. We definitely wanted to stay right on the strip too. With the exception of when we were actually in the PH hotel, we had a great time. We'll be in debt for the next 20 years, but we enjoyed it!
