Hi Skinnycat....

When Mum first went on PD, her Neph. who she absolutely adored, told her that there was no reason whatsoever not to indulge in love-making.... He knew she was widowed for decades, but they loved teasing each other... Mum just looked at him and said "That's great news, George... Now, are you offering???"... I needn't tell you, there was uproar... The nurses, Registrars, etc. came into the room to 'congratulate Else on sorting George out'... LOL!... Couldn't take her anywhere!...

But I've never heard of anyone not having sex due to the fluid... Mum stopped noticing it was there after a while....

Best of luck with the D, and with erm, 'the other', too!... LOL!!!...

I don't know about others, but it was never an issue for me.

Probably best to avoid sex while you are connected to the cycler.

I seem to remember a quote from another member/forum.  Apparently the PD nurse told her that it was fine and to 'Tape it down well and get on with it'..

Sexual intimacy is part of any relationship and being human..  No reason we should stop cos of CRF..

The main thing is to talk to your partner about it.. Being worried about something mucks up lovemaking for both parties:)

The ONLY thing about PD that bothers me a bit is that my kidneys still make a small, and I mean a very small amount of urine.  The 'pressure' on my bladder acts like I'm a pregnant lady, an immediate need to go to the bathroom or I''ll spring a leak, only to void a quarter cup!  Never much of any warning!  Got to laugh about it.

If the fluid in your abdomen (not stomach) causes problems with sex, you can always do a drain, hump to your heart's content, then do a fill.  Going without fluid for an hour or so won't cause any problems.

You might like to listen to this wonderful presentation from the NKF conference in 2012, from Lillian Irvine

http://www.kidney.org.uk/about-us/conference/roadshow-2012/

A wonderful Scottish lady, renal nurse and relationship therapists.

I rejoiced when I saw this on the program as the NKF can be a bit 'typically British and prudish'  (thankfully I'm not)

Had great fun in the next days workshop.
