Dog Walkers....

I have a question about my ten pound dog.  I take her for a walk everyday and she waits by the door looking pathetic until we go.  We live in an urban neighborhood where everyone has yards with automatic sprinkler systems.  We go down to the culdasac and she may pee here and there and then we go down this trail where she may pee and if she poos anywhere I pick it up with a baggy.  I can tell some people don't like her to even pee a little... at the corner or end of their lawn.  I mean dogs don't just unload pee... they do a spot here and a spot there.  Even when I'm almost HOME she will still squat and maybe a "drop" will come out.  Yesterday this girl comes out (maybe 25yr old) and asks me to not have my dog go to the bathroom on her yard.  I was nice and said "by the time she gets here there is nothing left, she just acts like it".  The girl just got in her car and waited for her mother.  Her mother and I talked but she is very Asian so I'm not sure she understood what I was trying to say. 

So is it wrong now a days to walk your dog?  Should I drive to a park everyday?  I just don't think a drop of pee here and there with sprinkler systems should be a big deal but maybe I don't know what is correct?

I should also add there are no sidewalks.  So if 2 cars or a truck is coming I just jump up on the curb/lawn because there is no where else to go.  But, I can cross the street at their place so I will do that.  Thank you.

I more or less trained our dog when and where to go. Until we had reached the appropriate area, I'd command him to "tighten up!" and then tighten/shorten his leash and have him walk at my side. Then, once we arrived at "the area", I loosened up his leash to let him feel free to wander. Didn't take long for him to get use to that in fact, he loved taking commands. He always seemed to walk a little taller, as if with pride that he was so smart and obedient. The important thing tho, was that we got that one-on-one time and went for walks. If you can have a dog, you're lucky. If you have a dog that will take you for walks, then you're really lucky.

My 12 pound dog does the same. My neighbors don't seem to care. Many have dogs or indoor/ outdoor cats. My neighbors don't tend to have nice grass though either. I try to keep her away from the nicer yards.
