Update as of:11:21 pm.: Mum's breathing has slowed right down and she's weakened considerably overnight. She's comfortable, though, and that is the best I can hope for. The nurse has advised me not to leave the ward. C.

Update: 12:36 a.m. Forgive me i I have already let you know, but my mind's elsewhere. Mum has weakened considerably overnight. HEr breathing has slowed right  dow, her pulse and BP are too low for the machines to record. she's also started to ooze fluid through her skin. Nurses have advised me not to leave the ward. If anyone else wants to pop in and say "Cheerio" now is the time tod o it. No regrets! All welcome, nytime, room 5 Osbourne Ward. Love to all. C.

Update: Hi all. At 10:15 my darling mum took her leave of this world. Calmly, peacefully and with great dignity. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Thank you all for your support. Funeral arrangements to follow. C.

Condolences. There will be grief, sadness, peace and then some rest needed before the rebuilding of your life without your mum begins. Oh, she will be with you, just not in the way you want or expect and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some time will need to pass but then you will look out toward the horizon again to search what may await you.

This makes me so sad.  We all knew this day was coming, but it is still a shock.  I'm so sorry.

Thank you, everyone....

No exact times as yet... The funeral director's collecting Mum from the hospital this morning, embalming her, and leaving her back to the hosp., because it's easier for me to visit there if I wish, than to go to a funeral home...

She's coming home at lunchtime on Tuesday.... She's going to be put into her own bed, and a real Irish, two-day (and two night!) wake will begin... Funeral on Thursday morning...

I visited the cemetery and bought the grave yesterday... Found a REALLY bright , and sunny spot!... I'm asking guests to wear something brightly coloured, Mum was a colourful character... Even the funeral director's agreed to dispense with the black suits and ties!... They'll wear navy suits, and bright ties! As my darling mum would have wanted... Let's put the 'fun' into Elsie's funeral!....

Flowers would be very welcome, or donations to be shared between Osborne Ward, Tallaght Hospital, where they've cared for her over the years and Dogs in Distress, a great organisation of volunteers who look after unwanted dogs, get them well, and find 'fur'ever homes for them...

Love to all....

Darth....
