Well, would you believe it???...

My mum who was given only hours to live, and was receiving Palliative Care in hospital is battling on... As a friend said "Elsie didn't get the memo!"...

And subject to her getting a little more mobile, eating a bit more, and the Health Service Executive getting a Home Care Package in place, Mum will be coming home on Thursday, March 6th!... Unbelievable!!!...

Now anything could happen to change all that, but as of now, she'll be home in a little over a week, having been a guest of the Minister for Health since New Year's Day!...

Fingers crossed!....

Thanks for all the support....

Love to all...

What great news for you both!  I'm sure she'll be thrilled to be home.  Darth, are you absolutely sure you'll be able to handle everything yourself?  Can you explain a bit more about the "home care package"?

Hi Moose....

Home Care Package is going to be someone coming into the home three times a day for a total of about four hours to look after Mum's personal and continence care... Docs (both Mum's and mine) have advised that I back off the personal care, and do the D and cooking, and entertaining her, deal with her medical and financial affairs, etc, but that I really need help with her physical care, bed changes, etc......

The plan is also for Mum to have the occasional short stay in a Nursing Home for me to have a break...

Fingers crossed it works out, and if I'm honest, I don't expect her to be home for too long before another crisis, but hey, we'll take a day at a time!....

Thanks for your concern....

Love....

I am a caregiver to my wonderful husband,  He is 4p and started PD October 2013. We have several living donors waiting to be tested for a transplant. Dialysis is a bridge to get us where we need to go.
He had a transplant in November 2019.

How grand it will be to have her home again! Now, you pay attention to the doctors and don't work your self into the ground! May I suggest you rig up a cot for iketchum in the laundry!

:clap;  Oh, Darth, what good news! I'm glad Elsie has improved enough for the powers-that-be to consider letting her come home. Please do not overdo when she gets home. Enjoy your time with her and let the home care team do the heavy lifting - literally and figuratively.

No Bill... Mum's hunting for Husband number three, so I'm sure she'll be happy to share!...

Galvo, I was thinking of having Bill share a kennel with Dougal, but there again, would that be fair to Dougal???... LOL!...

Thanks for the support everyone!...

Indeed, Jean.... Thing is I can do that myself.... Now if he'd like to do some home decorating for me, I'd consider keeping him!!!!!... Think I could have a battle or three with Candy, though....
