Good day. I started home nocturnal dialysis about 6 weeks ago 6 nights a week. I am just wondering what kind of fluid removal in weight do other nocturnal patients average per run. When i run every night i usually weigh about 4-5 pounds above my dry weight. When i take a night off i find i am about 7-8 pounds above my dry weight. Are these figures average, low, high for other dialysis patients. Let me know please your thoughts.

                 Thank you. Mike.http://mike2kal.wordpress.com/

5 pounds over would be a little over 2 liters.  That means you are drinking like 2 bags of saline a day.  Then you take a day off and drink 10 pounds which would be drinking almost 5 liters or 5 bags of saline.

I don't know!  It depends on your dry weight.  You can have 3% of your dry weight between runs.  So if your dry weight is 100 kilos it would be
100 x .03 = 3liters between runs.

There are 2.2 pounds in 1 kilo/liter.  So if your dry weigh 100 kilos that is 220 pounds.  A bigger person can afford a little more fluid between runs than a smaller person.  It is hard on your heart to shift too much fluid back and forth.

What is your dry weight right now?

My dry weight right now is 120 kilos and most nights when i am doing it every night i weigh on average 122-122.5 so if its 122.5 thats 2.5 plus .4 for saline rince back and .4 for Misc. so on average i am going for 2.8 to 3.3 and on the night after taking a night off i am going for 3.8 to 4.5. Of course as you know its just not what you drink the food you eat has a lot of water in it as well. My dietician is very happy with my diet and my blood work shows it. I just have not been feeling great after my runs so i was just wondering what other people shot for in fluid removal
