hi my name is kathy and i have polycystic kidney disease.  i have 15% kidney function left at this time.  i was told dialysis within the year.  i was an icu nurse for 13 years until i was injured at work and had to go on leave.  i am now on social security for severe arthritis in both hips.  i have been off work for 4 years.  i have 2 children, 23 year old daughter and 20 year old son.  i also have a granddaughter, bailey, who is the light of my life.  i am helping to raise my granddaughter.  i am interested in all things kidney related and read a lot off of the internet.  thanks for the opportunity to join your group!!!! :thx;

Welcome to our community.  We are so glad that you have decided to join us.  You will find that this site will help to prepare you for this challenging experience of dialysis. That is what it did for me.  So take your time, read the relevant threads and posts, ask questions.  And please keep posting and letting us know how you are doing.  This is a very comprehensive site and we have lots of interesting posts, even some which have nothing to do with dialysis.  So, enjoy this site!  HEre is a group hug from all of us. :grouphug;

Hi Kathy, :welcomesign;
It seems to me that you have had quite a tough 4 years, and I hope your kidney function lasts a lot longer than predicted.
Good Luck
