I'm a new member here, just found out about this group this afternoon, and registered.
I've been a capd patient since last April, on the cycler (Fresenius) since last June (2006).
I have had peritonitis three times, hospitalized for it twice, and had my tube replaced this
past December (2006), necessitating two weeks of hemodialysis through a catheter in
my shoulder/neck. Not bad, really. But I much prefer my cycler, thank you very much!
What else. I work full time, which is a struggle, since that is ALL I do most days. My fiancee
is 2 hours away, so I only see him on weekends/emergencies. It took me two months to recover from the surgery in December. I just, last week, worked a full week. I was so excited!
I went through a major bout of depression, about 4-5 weeks, hiding it from everyone,
since I didn't see me nurse, other than for her to change my dressing, and my fiancee and
I could not see each other (weather woes!)
I'm getting back to my usual cheerful/hyper self, which is nice! It's hard not having someone
to lean on, physically when needed, but I've learned to adapt!

Thanks! I was so excited to see that there are other people here who have Alport's
also! Makes me feel not quite so alone, ya know?
More info: I'm 46 years old, a single mother of a 19 year old who is in Basic Training
(Army, Reserves, thank goodness!), and who will be moving to Indianapolis (I live in
Muncie, Ind.) when he gets out later this month. I wanted to see him graduate
this time, but I can't. We went to his BT (he's on his 3rd training session) graduation,
and that really cause a lot of physical distress. That's what irks me the most. I can't do
what I wanna and what I used to do.
GRRR!!!

Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. This website is intended to be your home away from home, offering advice when you need it, an occasional laugh and even more importantly an ear to listen to you when you ask questions, or just need to vent.
A thread you may find interesting here just for fun

Thanks guys! I really enjoyed this site, and did some more reading last night when I got home.
I always wondered why the clinics never sponsored some social get togethers, well, this is
MUCH better!
Better get back to work....

Hi MyssAnne,
I'm a newbie too. Thanks for the welcome to me and I want to welcome you. As Hoosiers we need to support each other.
My grand-daughter who lives with me is dating a student from Ball State.....so.....she knows the way to Muncie very well.
