If my husbands blood clotted before trement any way we could try again later in the day ?

Yes, you can.  If you are getting clotting in the needle right after cannulation, then a good idea is to do a wet stick.  You get this by cleaning brown bung on saline bag with saline swab and withdraw small quantity into a syringe.  then remove needle on syringe abd attach to end of dislysis needle line.  Depress plunger on syringe and inject saline into dialysis needle line, until a drop or two of saline comes out of the needle.  This primes the line with saline so there is no air in there.  This helps prevent clotting until you connnect up.

The other option to avoid clotting in needle is to cannulate, then immediatly flush needle line with saline and clamp it. That is what I do every treatment for my wife. I draw up 2 syringes of 7 cc saline before cannulating from the saline bag. Then after cannulating I bring blood up needle line to prime it. Then I clamp and attach syringe to needle line , draw back a small amount blood to get air bubbles out with syringe up . Then I inject about 5cc saline through line to flush it and keep air in syringe. Then clamp line and am ready to hook up. I do this every time in both lines. I have never had a clot .

I'm with obs. I'm not sure what technique you are using, but flushing should be part of your protocol. It prevents clotting and pulling back allows you to check for patency and assures good needle placement.
