you have NO kidney function.

I went to my family doc in town.  He thinks thats why I, well....hurt.  :o  So he put me on an antibiotic.  I hope that does the trick.

I first called my nephrologist and told his nurse about it and she suggested I see my family doc first.  Her reasoning for that was...she didnt want me to travel all the way to wichita (hour and 30 min drive) when i could just see my doc in town.

Has anyone else had this problem and is it easy to take care of?

Someone told me w/ a uti you need to drink lots of water to flush your system out.  Well that is a problem with no kidney function.

Also one of my nurses said i could have kidney stones.  WTF, how would i pass a kidney stone if that was the problem?  Can you get kidney stones without functioning kidneys?

I just want this all to go away

Even after I had been on dialysis for a long time I would still get bladder infections. Start drinking cranberry juice right away. There's something in it that seems to help. I have never found oral antibiotics to be effective, I have always had to have them via iv. It's kinda a pain in the butt, but it works very quickly so you get relief quickly. You generally need to go to the hospital at least twice a day for the treatment.

finally starting to feel better.  i bought the cranberry juice friday.  actually it's cran-apple, there is about 1/4 of the bottle left.  i have about 3 days of antibiotics left.  hopefully everything will be cleared up by then.

Oh Tubes, i feel for ya boyfriend,  yes, it is very possible and they gave me antibiotics as well.  I can't say for sure if the cranberry juice is what is helping cuz that is mainly a diuretic and not too sure if since we dont pee anymore if that would or wouldnt help us,  i know my mom drinks it for the same reason, she has normal kidney function but gets UTI's and that is what she takes to cure it.  Anyways, i hope you are feeling better by now amigo...  :cuddle;

Yes John has just been put on a broad sectrum antibiotic 5 days worth as he was feeling low and passing a lot of blood. After 3 days he feels a lot better and now only a little bit of blood in the night bag.  I wonder how you can pick up these infections, the only time he ever goes out is to a hospital appointment.
