Another song I like is Hurt sung by Johnny Cash.  I know someone else originally sung it but I like his version better

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Mallory, I love that song by Johnny Cash!  I believe it was Nine Inch Nails who did it first but his is awesome!

Hothouse Flowers - Trying to get through - From the album Home

Spend a long time on my own last night
I think I spent a little but over the top
It's just something in a bottle
made me feel right
And I think that's why I couldn't stop
The man beside me
had the warmest look of understanding in his eyes
As I went on about the laws the barriers and things
That came upon me and my kind
I'm just trying to get through
We have words but sometimes words say too much
but they don't say enough
The boys meed the girl
Sometimes they sail smoothly
and sometimes it's rough

I remember like a little child
kicking against a stone wall
that I built myself
I won't give in now
I won't feel guilty
I'll just rise up
I'll have to be myself
I'm just trying to get through
I'm just trying to get through

So help me
I'm trying to get through
Can't you see I'm trying to get through
Help me through

So listen people what I tell you now
Life is hard but it's worth keeping on
Listen people what I can tell you straight
It's not too late to try and get through
I'm just trying to get through...

Actually, there are a lot of songs that I use to keep me going, but this one has been on my mind lately.

I like many of the songs already listed. My CKD song is Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel singing Don't Give Up. Here is the YouTube link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYUAvAZt2jw

Here are the lyrics - Kate Bush's part in italics

In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
But no-one wants you when you lose

Don't give up
'cos you have friends
Don't give up
You're not beaten yet
Don't give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought that I could be affected
Thought that we'd be last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up
We don't need much of anything
Don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
Where we belong
Rest your head
You worry too much
It's going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don't give up
Please don't give up

Got to walk out of here
I can't take any more
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That river's flowing
That river's flowing

Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs

Don't give up
'cause you have friends
Don't give up
You're not the only one
Don't give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up now
We're proud of who you are
Don't give up
You know its never been easy
Don't give up
'cause I believe there's a place
There's a place where we belong.

A new one I heard this week.

Rascal Flatts Stand Lyrics
Stand - Rascal Flatts
You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you’ll be alright

You’ll be alright
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Then you stand
2.
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Then you stand
Yeah then you stand.
Bridge:
Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Ooohhh
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Then you stand
Yeah then you stand.
Yeah

My song is a song the choir sang at church one Sunday morning.
I got the words to it and keep them in my nightstand.
Many times I need get it out and read it again.

The Point of Grace

When the fire of life leaves you so dry
that your eyes have no more tears to cry;
oh, when heartache leaves you wond'ring why.
or wond'ring how you will survive,
When you've grown too tired to run the race,
find your strength is gone without a trace,
when you've reached that lonely desp'rate place,
You have reached the point of grace.

chorus
I will meet you there where your striving ends,
I will hold you there in My embrace,
You will find the place where true joy begins
when you've reached the point of grace.
When you've reached the point of grace.

When your hopes and dreams begin to fade,
Disappointment clouding all the plans you've made,
Feeling lonely, broken and afraid,
It seems so long since you've seen the light of day,
When it seems like every trial you face,
Leaves you one step closer to the place,
Where you fall away or reach for My embrace,
Child, you have reached the point of grace!

chorus

Just let go and you will see,
Just how mighty love can be,
Child, your greatest strength is when youre weak,
Looking up from your brokenness to Me!

chorus
Amazing Grace!

a beautiful song!

My theme song is "I Want Out" by Helloween, because it sums up how I feel when I sit in that hellhole of a dialysis center.

From our lives' beginning on
We are pushed in little forms
No one asks us how we like to be
In school they teach you what to think
But everyone says different things
But they're all convinced that
They're the ones to see

[Bridge:]
So they keep talking and they never stop
And at a certain point you give it up
So the only thing that's left to think is this

[Chorus:]
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

People tell me A and B
They tell me how I have to see
Things that I have seen already clear
So they push me then from side to side
They're pushing me from black to white
They're pushing 'til there's nothing more to hear

[Bridge:]
But don't push me to the maximum
Shut your mouth and take it home
'Cause I decide the way things gonna be

[Chorus:]
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

There's a million ways to see the things in life
A million ways to be the fool
In the end of it, none of us is right
Sometimes we need to be alone

[Solo: Kai/Both]

No no no, leave me alone

[Chorus:]
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

I am not super religious (although this song sounds like it) I like this song and it reminds me how lucky I am to be alive! :yahoo;

http://youtube.com/watch?v=s1kULQceVPc <<<<<----LISTEN

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see so clearly

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away

I listen to this and about three other songs that encourage and inspire me everyday on my way to work (during my almost hour and a ahalf commute) and I think about the power that kidney disease has brought me - by giving me the ability to weather and overcome situations which would drive others to give up. Making me grateful for every minute I have with those I love most and never to sweat the little stuff.

We are powerful, useful and and stronger than most. We have so much to contribute and this song and others remind me that I am glad to have been given the opportunity to help others achieve  - Grace like rain falls down on me!

This is my Theme song - Sarah Mclachlan - In the arms of  Angels

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of an Angel, far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
