i dont think that IQ tests prove anything... My sons is very low, but i dont think hes dumb by any means. and mines rather high (a tiny bit above average, if you can believe that!) , but half the time i cant remember mid-sentence what im talking about, or how to spell "nesis...nececess...necessary" necessarily

I was depending on my Mac to spell 'necessary', but it wouldn't tell me the right spelling for over five minutes so I got angry and opened a tab and went to Google. We all have words that we just don't know the spelling. "Necessary" is one for me. I always want to spell it "nessesary".

as for not reading context, unfortunately people only take things the way they want to. especially online... you cant really read into what someone is saying unless you are hearing the inflection of the words...

i think you and i have a similar problem, people take what we say waaaaaaay wrong.

Not a disrespectful salutation at all.  In fact, "the kid" is often a reference to a younger member who is "part" of the group. So, pardon my old fashioned ways, but that was not meant in any disrespectful way, in fact, it is often a term of endearment to folks my age. Just sayin. "Hey kid," you are only 16, we expect you to act more like an adult now. Trying to fight the whole world is not a fun thing to attempt. Get with the program and use the brain God gave you to a good end, it is much more profitable than trying to slam everyone you disagree with. You don't go very far doing that which I know from my own experience.

My issue with your comments, Gothicclovermonkey, are that, on the whole we do get on and on the most part, everyone is amicable.  I have been coming to this Forum for several years.  I have not always agreed with everyone, or they with me, however, I do not gelieve that any thread gas denigrated to name-slinging like this thread has.  Ad I have stated, I am not religious but even so, I find these anti-bible, anti-God comments offensive since I recognize that it it offensice to others.  Vicarious offense?  Maybe?  I just don't see the need to deliberately deride other peoples' beliefs.   Doesn't that suggest that there is a prime mover in this, that seems to want to upset people?  I could not care less that this person is a child.  I have a twelve-year old who has far more respect for other people than this individual.  He can say or think whatever he wants, and that is fine, if he doesn't want to be judged, but if that is the case, why bother to start this thread in the first place?Nods, there was a request the other day for a filter to filter outosters who we don't want to hear from.  Any chance of bringing this in?

Yes, I was in the ASA but that was before Vietnam, mostly involved with the usual missions in the far east.  The exception was some time in Laos.  You are clever, no doubt about that.  Was rated in the top 5% of all Army personnel. Long time ago.

Very interesting Gerald, which by the way if my older brother's name as well. I met a man in my Denver training hospital that spent 7 years in Laos, not sure what years, in special ops. I asked him if he was ever scared, he said, yeah, once!! Go figure, he got caught in a mind field and had to shoot a path with his M16. I thought, what kind of a man does special ops in country for 7 years and was only scared once?

Hats off to you Gerald, that takes a special man to go venture in those jungles doing what you did. You have also fought quite the battle in the last couple of decades with your cancers and renal disease. I guess you are still a warrior at heart.

That's all you pull out of this tirade of hate? MY comment with a couple swear words (which is NOT against site rules, it is nay advised). This site is unbelievable. I will not modify my statement. You can modify it yourself. I'm gone. Clearly I am not wanted because the bias is shining. Obviously many of you are too stubbornly narrow minded to go past your own misconceptions, so fine. Whatever. Those of you that aren't (GLM, Riki, Rerun at times, Desert Dancer, Henry), you've been kind, but not kind enough to make me stay. Obviously I made a mistake researching this site after me and my Child Life Specialist found it. We were going like 'Who would do something like that?' The answer is clear as day, some who are not open to fresh ideas.

I do not read these threads; I am NOT interested in the content. I have my own personal views, but they will remain my own.

However, I am SICK and TIRED of seeing reports from various members of late about this, and some other threads, about language, abuse, profanity, whatever....

All you people out there getting sensitive and upset by others, and then throwing abuse (sorry "opinions") back should be aware - there has been some serious discussion about removing these "off topic" boards from IHD all together due to the issues between users that really have very little to do with the whole point of this board  - which is to discuss and SUPPORT those with kidney disease and their carers. From what I can see very little SUPPORT is going on here from various corners.

Moderators WILL NOT and CAN NOT take sides. You should ALL be on notice though that we are fed up with childish behaviour from ANYONE. We have better things to do with our days and evenings than have to deal with this crap.

Perhaps refer to what your parents perhaps should have taught you has a child: If you have nothing nice to say, then hold your tongue. If someone's opinion offends or upsets you - it's just that - an opinion - it is valid to them, that does not mean it holds for anyone else. Your own views on anything said are just that too - opinions - valid to you, perhaps not to anyone else.

If respectful discussion on whatever topics can't be had then perhaps it is those involved need to take a step back and ask themselves why they are so upset with the comments of another user who, for all intents and purposes, might as well be anonymous.

Or, if you don't like the TV show you're watching you can turn it off and/or chose not to watch. I suggest perhaps some should follow this idea if their skins are too thin.

I am only posting these comments for MYSELF not on behalf of the other moderators, but I am fairly sure many of us hold the same general view.

Yes, you are allowed to swear on these boards.  You are not allowed to swear at another member when it is a personal attack  -  "$%#$@%^& dialysis!" is fine; "You are a #$%^&@#!" is not.

I'm going one step farther than Richard.  As this thread has degenerated into total uselessness, I'm locking it.  I, and the rest of the mods have had enough.  If the admins choose to unlock it later, that's their choice, but enough is enough.
