Hi there everyone, I'm Gill from Burntwood in Staffordshire UK. I'm a lady !! aged 41 with IGA nephropathy. I have known about my kidneys since the birth of my second child Claire 13 years ago. It has not made end stage any easier, it has certainly been a challenge.
I have been on CAPD since christmas 06 and doing ok.
I have a husband Gary whos been fantastic, 2 daughters  Sarah 17 and Claire 14 and Mac the west highland white terrier 5, my family inclusive of sister Jenny and mom and dad have been a huge support to me and I dont think I would have coped as well without them. I have been using the kidney patient guide forum which has been a good source of help and laughter, then this site was suggested as been very good so I thought I'd take a look.

Heres hoping to make some new friends xGillx :angel;

Hello Gillymac and welcome to IHD.  I don't care if you find out 2 years prior, 13 years prior or 30 years prior it still takes some getting use to.  I'm glad you have such a wonderful support system.  We are here for your too.  For those times when you don't want to bother your family with things they just can't understand.

Hope you find this site educational as well as entertaining.

hi Gill!  :welcomesign; to IHD
was your renal failure caused by pregnancy?
I am lucky because I have the NxStage home hemo machine. My renal failure was due to pregnancy related toxemia that went untreated by my prenatal clinic causing severe eclampsia and high blood pressure. I've know for about seven yrs which is how old my Suzy will be in May. I'd love to hear more about your personal reanl story so please, share, vent, tell all. I find that easy to do here and very therapudic. I hope you find this site as helpful as I have. I will pray that the UK renal community is able to acquire the NxStage program. It literally gives you your life back.
