Hi there everyone

 just found out that i have esrd with a gfr of 11, what a shock to myself and i am so glad to have found Ihd and look forward to hearing from everyone, i have been looking into capd and feel an urgent need for info coupled with good humour that seems to be wonderfully forthcoming on your'e site i stay in scotland uk with hubby and our 3 years old daughter

Hi jakia, welcome to IHD.  I do in-center hemodialysis so I don't know much about PD.  Lots of IHD'ers are on PD, though, so they can probably be helpful.

I'm caring for my mum, Elsie who has KF and Parkinson's Disease...

She's on CAPD, which I administer as she shakes too much to do it herself...

It is, in my humble opinion, a MUCH nicer form of dialysis in that we can have Mum at home, she's eating better, can drink more, and maintain her remaining function better...

It's not without it's problems... Mum's had peretonitis three times, but on balance, she's MUCH healthier and happier on it than haemo... All about personal choice, I suppose....

If I can be of assistance, feel free to get in touch...

Visit IHD often, get to know us, and have fun...

Cared for my late mum, Elsie who had Kidney Failure... Darling mum died on July 15th 2014... May her gentle soul rest in peace....
