I've posted before about trying to get permission from my center to do Nocturnal dialysis with my NxStage cycler. After months of indecisiveness, I finally got a concrete answer of "No" from them. I decided I couldn't keep living the way I've been - it's too stressful, not enough sleep, and I don't have time to do anything but work, dialysis, and sleep! I had heard about a center in New York that did Nocturnal HomeHemo, so I called them up. Last Monday, my husband and I visited the center, met the team, and started the process of switching my care. They have been super fast about getting the ball rolling! I have a home visit on Monday and we go down on Thursday for two days of training on the heparin pump & securing lines. They do remote monitoring through the internet. It is a 2.5 hour drive one way that we'll have do once a month, but it will give us about 20 "free" hours a week. I will be able to make dinner (my husband is getting sick of cooking) and work on my projects! I am so excited! It has been feeling like I haven't had a life. I'm also looking forward to possibly getting off my binders and blood pressure meds.
