I have a new kidney! i also have a post op infection, woot!

Oh, gosh, I have fixed up the post a bit.

Currently laying in bed with my touchpad. Husband sleeps on the couch. We are together, though, cause my mom and friend dragged the mattress downstairs before we got home after surgery. We have a quad level, and the upstairs bathroom is gutted, so we have the mattress down here for easier access to the only bathroom. We had friends over last weekend, and it was like a sleepover!

My brother was re-doing my bathroom, but now might have mono :-(. He started feeling sick the day after he drove me to the hospital, but since we didn't make out or share utensils, I am hopefully safe (plus wouldn't acyclovir help?).

Hubs and I had some very ginger, careful, snuggles yesterday. He is afraid I'll accidentally hit him in our sleep, we only have a full sized mattress, tight quarters!

I am very pleased with myself for cooking and freezing so much, will make it a regular thing! I love having a deep freeze, and food already ready already. Also friends bring us yummies, too!. We are very blessed! My husband is eating well and had a good check-up. He goes back to work on modified duties tomorrow. We missed a whole week together

. For donors, they don't check Cr right away so people don't freak. He was on Atkins before. Now he just tries to eat sensibly, and has not gained weight yet!. He's taking good care of himself, which I was worried about. I had to clean his wound with peroxide. It is over his belly button (with two small laparoscopy incisions on his side) and gross stuff collects in belly button. He picked me up Friday and told me it stunk, so I asked the nurse to look, and she said to pour a little hydrogen peroxide, which helped.
Regardless thing is having him clean things, etc., that are too geeky for me. I don't like to ask him for help, cause he just have me a freaking kidney!
He is growing a beard. I haven't kissed a man with facial hair since college!

I still have another five weeks or so of leave. I have a clinic, then a blood draw, every week.

The drugs are not so bad. Prednisone made me a little kooky at 100mg, so they gave me an Ativan script.

I am on half dose of cellcept while infection is treated.

Oh! I am on a NODAT study. "New Onset Diabetes After Transplant". They gave me insulin as soon as I had a high sugar, and I take maintenance doses every morning based on my dinner glucose the night before. they are trying to prevent diabetes in transplant patients. I was excited to be in the treatment group, because I already have pancreas problems. Hopefully we can learn to prevent diabetes! Only 3 other people in the study now. My transplant nephrologist calls me every morning, which is a nice bonus (he's the head of the study).. I participated in 2 other studies, too. I love research!

I still can't drink cause of pancreas, but like this anyway
