Yes, this is the wearable artificial kidney.  What puts me off about this is that it uses a catheter.

This is a portble hemo system that will be trialed in Seattle. Baxter is partnering on a PD system http://www.awak.com/wearable_dialysis.htm


It's kinda nice that there are so many different efforts underway that it is hard to keep track.

And Baxter has long been working with DEKA on bringing a revised hemo machine to market building on the AKSYS technology.

That's neat!! I'm not sure many of us veteran dialysis people would be eligable as it sounds like it only filters, not takes excess fluid. So if you don't pee.... Still, very cool concept. I look forward to hearing more about this!
