Ever since I started using my fistula in August 2011, I have always had problems, particularly with the venous.  When putting needles in, it is always really painful even with the use of Emla cream and numerous 24 alarms are a daily occurrence with each treatment.  It has also been painful during treatment, to the point that I have abandoned treatment several times.  Even when I have removed the needles, the venous remains painful for several hours until I feel safe to massage the area gently.  It's as if needle insertion pushes something out of place and it stays that way until I massage it back into place.

I have been putting off getting new ones as My venous is pretty deep and I am a wuss about putting sharps in.  Anyway, my nurse, with my guidance about where to put it, is starting new buttonbholes.  The needles went in a dream, no pain, and no pain during the treatment.  Plus, I think that I had the first treatment ever without a single 24 alarm!  I am so hopeful that this will solve the problem.

Healthy people may look upon me as weak because of my illness, but my illness has given me strength that they can't begin to imagine.
