Dear ihd.com Lovelies,

It's that time of year when we put our flip-flops to bed and dig out our water bottles (unless we live somewhere odd where they just HAVE to be different, like Australia).  This can mean only one thing ... The Holiday Gift Exchange/Secret Santa!!! :cheer:

Please join in!

(What follows are the tried and tested rules and regs.  Please read them carefully before committing yourself to the fun of gift buying and gift receiving.)

Attention: Members with less than 50 posts must be approved before you are allowed to participate.

Here are the details:

--- This is a "Secret Santa" type of exchange.  I will randomly draw names to assign people. You will not know who is sending you a gift. You will only know who you are sending to (you can identify yourself in the package.)

--- Gift(s) value should be around US$10.00-$20.00, but no less than $10.00.  Which equates to approximately (and currency rates are subject to change *grin*) £6.00-£13.00 for the Uk, $10.00-$20.00 for Australia, €8.00-€16.00 for the Irish and $10.00-$20.00 in Canada.  Apologies if I've missed anybody's currency out.

As far as what the gift should be, that's up to you.   You may want to research your person's posts to try to get an idea of what they may like. Use this thread to list your likes and dislikes, allergies, etc. to give ideas as to what your Secret Santa might send you.

--- You must sign up by PM'ing your info to me (Poppylicious) NO LATER THAN October 20th. To be included on the Holiday Exchange list you must send me your snail mail address and phone number (optional).

--- Names will be drawn and announced (by PM) on November 2nd.

--- Gifts must be mailed out NO LATER THAN November 23rd, and sooner if you are sending overseas.

If you want to participate, please PM Poppylicious your info.  We will have copies of all the mailing addresses, and of course whoever is sending you a gift will have your address, but it will not be posted publicly.  I will not send out phone numbers, those are for office use only.

Please use this format in the PM:

   Screen name
   Real name (first and last)
   Complete mailing address
   Phone number (Optional)
If you are willing to sending a gift overseas (it may cost a little extra for shipping)
Outside of the US must have a phone number.

We will post a final list of who is participating as we receive the information.

If you sign up for the exchange and fail to send a gift you will be banned from IHD for 90 days.

If you have any questions, please post in this thread or PM Poppylicious.

Those who participated last year had a most marvellous time!

Love, :santahat;

Poppy,  Could you please let us know who we have to buy for as soon as possible after Oct. 2.  I ask because I have had to send gifts overseas and even though I mailed before Nov. 23 they were still about a month late getting there.  A suggestion to people who get an overseas person - mail it as early as possible.  I was told at the post office that a gift I sent to NZ could take 4 months to get there regular mail.  The cost of sending it to get there faster was outrageous!!

Not a problem lovely.  Although I assume that you mean October 20th rather than the 2nd, otherwise I've completely messed up?!  If we say the final cut-off for submitting a desire to play is midnight California time then by the time I wake up on Sunday 21st everybody who wants to join in will have sent me their details and I can spend my wedding anniversary pulling names out of hats ...  ;D  I'll aim to have all players notified by the time I go to bed on the Sunday, promise.

Okay, so I'm a bit of a nightmare for corresponding between Sunday nights and Thursday mornings due to the fact that I work Mon-Weds.  I leave the house at 7 and don't get home till 7, so by the time I've done everything I need to do I really can't be bothered with too much thinking ...

 ;D

Suffice to say, I haven't responded to individuals, but have made a note of all your addresses (*evil laugh*) and have added you to the list of participants ... please check you're on it and I haven't missed you off!

Don't forget to tell me if you can post overseas or not!!

So, we need some likes/dislikes questions.

Hmmm ...

Feel free to use the following, or don't.  Add to it if you want. It will help those of us with no imagination to buy you goodies you'll love!! If we do it on this thread it keeps things organised and easily accessible (and I do LOVE organisation and accessibility!)

My favourite colour is:
My favourite animal is:
My favourite food is:
Clothing wise I wear a size:
I collect:
My favourite genre of book and/or film is:
I'm allergic to:
I'm not ungrateful but if I were to receive this/these I would probably cry:
I REALLY LOVE:

I hope these are ok.  Amend them as you see fit!  I'll start the ball rolling ...
