My husband has been on home hemo for 2 years.  We switched to nocturnal home hemo two months ago.  He is allergic to every tape that we have tried.  Three weeks ago his rash was so bad that it turned into a staph infection.  He is out of hospital. . . thank heavens. . . but we are faced with the ongoing issue of securing the needles.  Can anyone share your experiences with being allergic to the tape?  Is anyone else out there on nocturnal hemo?  How do you secure the lines?

Thank you,.  I'm frantic!

I'm not on Hemo, but the first thing that popped into my head was can he use "sports tape", you know, the stretchy kind that they put on you after a blood draw?  It is just a thought.

don"t think that I would reccomend that for actually securing needles.  I can understand your frustrations as I have tape issues too.

I'm on CCPD, but I know the agonizing issues with being allergic to tape... I found this site, and not sure if it would be helpful to you at all?  But it does have some guides to interesting products...

Good luck!  I know how much it sucks! :(

I am allergic to tape, it could only stay on my arm for 4-5 hours.  When I had the line I used Skin Prep which creates a barrier to help protect your skin.

here is a link to amazon

Thank you both so much!!!  I really appreciate it.  Have purchased several items so will keep fingers crossed.  My husband had a staph infection due to the rash so it has gone from being painful and annoying to being dangerously ill!  Again . . thank you!
