I am having a new permacath put in Wednesday and then scheduled Thursday for the PD catheter.  I know what the permacath is like but not sure I want the discomfort from that and the PD cath all at the same time.  I could wait a week and have the PD cath put in.  What do yall think those that have had PD cath because of course during all this I still have to go and have dialysis.

I don't remember much discomfort the day after the chest cath was put in. But I was still in the hospital on decent meds. For the PD catheter, I thought the laparoscopry camera hole hurt worse than where the catheter was. I did have trouble with laying down to sleep and sitting up again for 2 nights. But it only hurt bad when I was doing that movement. I guess the real concern is how you react to anaesthesia. If you have trouble recovering, how will you feel after 2 days in a row?

I've had two PD catheter placements and both times I just felt slightly bruised.  I needed to moved gently for a day or so.  Good Luck!
