Love Christopher's smile...I've been keeping him in my thoughts and prayers every night. I will pray that the next round kills lots of bad cells without making him feel too bad!

What a handsome cheerful young man! My caring thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. It's okay to rage a bit. But it is wonderful when you come to terms with the situation and start making the best of it. Looking forward to being kept up to date with his progress. The name Christopher is a very special one in my family. I will be remembering him.

Hi Liz "babi68"
I had not replied to this thread because I didn't know what to say. This is so gut-wrenching for me, it makes me worry at every little cough EpoKid has and I do not know how you do it, you are a brave woman and I admire you and your courage. Your son is very strong as we all can see by him smiling while lying in his hospital bed. I wish you and your son the best.

Hey hun, lola makes an excellent point. You should remain on the transplant list, just tell your transplant coordinator you want to go "inactive", that way you won't get any kidney but you will maintain and still continue to add up time on the list. If you chose to go "active" again in 2 years, you would have all that wait time factored in and it would only help you in he end get a kidney faster. Hope all if well with your son.

Hi everyone, Just a quick update on Christopher. He has finished his chemo for the moment and today is his first day back at school. He seems to be very excited. I know I am. He has been off school for 4 months and is so ready to go back. He had a CT scan yesterday and we will find out next Monday 7th if he needs more surgery and more chemo. I really hope and pray that everything will be o.k. Also I am back on the list. Put myself back on about 3 weeks ago. Thanks everyone for your prayers. Better go and pack his bag......Liz

Thanks everyone, The last round of chemo was really hard on Christopher. He was vomiting blood and was in hospital for 9 days. It really scared him alot and he didn't really understand what was happening. As he was getting on the bus this morning he looked at me and said " no more chemo, no more vomiting blood". and I told him he did real good and should be proud of himself. And with that he gave me a huge smile and got on his bus. He seems to have matured, I mean he is still autistic and quiet, but sometimes he can seem so "normal". I came inside after he left and cried my eyes out. These last few months have been awful. Everyone is very stressed and I am surprised my marriage is still somewhat together. Well sort of. AHH we all need a holiday. Maybe one day we will come to the states to a IHD meeting. Update next week. Liz
