I just have to share this success story with all of you....after all it is because of you that I even have this success to share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read here that Medicare requres that dialysis centers provide reclining chairs for those doing home hemo.  So I asked at my center and was told they do not provide chairs.

I mentioned that I had read that they are supposed to but they still insisted they never had and never would.

I asked the manager a couple of weeks later and was told the same thing.

I waited again for about a week and then brought the subject up again and this time provided the link to Medicare's website (actually their manual) and showed them that the infomation and requirement was very clear....They must provide a reclining chair if the patient wants one.  I told them that I would be checking with Medicare to let them know that I was not being provided with a chair.

Today I was infomed that because of my bringing this to their attention everyone who does home hemo will now get a new dialysis chair if they want one.

In the meantime I have already bought a leather recliner but have found that it is really not very conducive to home hemo so am very pleased to accept my new chair.

A small victory but a victory non the less.

Janet,
Did you take delivery of the new chair yet?  If so, what brand/model did you select?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, have been using a LazyBoy recliner, but like you say, it has drawbacks.

Thnx

The chair I will get is the just like the ones they use in center. Has two attached side tables and the sides of the chair open for cleaning.  It is an off white color.

Do all dialysis centers use the same type of chair???
