So since last Wednesday I've had a gurgley cough, but cough nothing up.  It sometimes tastes like rust in my throat.  I have felt clammy - cold and sweaty at the same time, but my temp has never gone above 98.7.  I coughed a lot this morning, and felt lousey as we walked through my son's new school for next year, but at my Mom's 72 birthday party today I was fine.  When I try to workout I don't have the energy I had been having.  My transplant is 4 months old and all has gone very well.  What do you think?  If it were a weekday I'd call my transplant coordinator, but, of course, it's Saturday.  Should i hjust relax and assume it's just a cough?  It's so hard to know when to act and when to relax!!!!!

Wishiknew, that sounds like what me and my family had/have/are getting. I've been coughing for a week. I had the worst sore throat ever the first 2 days of it. I got it from my boss, and she was sick for a month. So I say just pop in to the doc Monday and have it checked out.

You should be able to call the tx clinic anytime of the day with a concern like that, well atleast with my center you can.

I had something like that and ended in the hospital with antibiotics, fluds, and short term beathing treatments. Of course your case maybe different, but should be checked out by a doctor. However since your a "newbie" this is part of the learning experience of when to and not be alarmed, when to go or not to go to tx center doctors and just go to local doctors. You'll get the hang of it.

Thanks for the replies!  There is always a nurse on call at the transplant center.  I could call today.  Last time I called for a stomach flu they said go to the transplant center ER which was a HORRIBLE experience.  We were there from 4 in the afternoon until 3 in the morning when they said I was fine and sent me home...  I'd like to hold out til tomorrow and have my transplant nephrologist fax x-ray orders to the place I get weekly labs done every Monday morning. That's what I keep thinking, but then I don't want to make anything worse.  Oh, it's so hard to now how strongly to react.

I'll be totally honest.  My son's 8th grade honors ceremony is Wednesday evening and I WILL not miss it.  I have missed so much.  I'm afraid they will hospitalize me...

Well if you go, wear a mask and have antibacterial wiPes with. No need to get others sick if you possibly have pneumonia and possibly making yourself worse.
