I have been trying to mix it up with grains lately. SO i reviewed the approved gain list i got from the dietitian and started eating barley (pearled).

In 1/2 cup barley   K=73 P-42

but Bulgur 1/2 cup  K=62 P=36  but bulgur is not on the approved list.   Am I missing something?

Does anyone on this forum that follows the renal diet eat bulgur?  What other grains are safe to eat?

I know Quinoa is not an option since it has twice as much K as barley per serving.

Don't worry about approved lists too much. As long as you can find out the K, P, and S on your own and use your common sense you should be fine. Here is a link to the USDA Nutrient Database. That should help.
