My son, Scotland, is my heartbeat.

WWW
« on: April 10, 2012, 10:18:42 AM »

I have searched the posts for over 30 minutes and need to leave. I am traveling to Scotland the first part of August for 2 weeks. I do nocturnal thus use 3 boxes (6 bags) of dialysate a night or 30 boxes if I dialyze 5 nights/week.

I need to know what the best way (any way) to ship these to Scotland and then are there carriers within Scotland that I could use to deliver to a few different destinations? I live in the Seattle area. Figuring out this part of the trip is the most difficult and stressful for me so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I need to know this will not be an issue before paying for this very pricey trip!!

How have others delivered supplies overseas and how much did it cost? Names of carriers will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I you wish to call, here is my number:  206-372-7598

 :sos;
thank you!!

Hi swramsay I'm not on Nxstage yet, but used to do APD (with a lot of bags) and the suppliers of the bags at home spoke to the suppliers of those bags in my holidaydestination country. The supplier in the UK is Kimal

good luck Cas

NxStage won't do that. Insurance won't cover in Europe. We are on our own getting supplies over there. How have others shipped supplies out of the US? Any info is appreciated. Or point me to posts so I can read what has already been written.
Thanks.

you may want to speak to Kimal about purchasing direct from them in the UK.  I costed it recently as I want to be able to visit the UK as I am British.  i asked my old hospital if they could arrange it for me.  for 10 days of treatments (I use 20 litres five times per week), and cartridges for ten treatments plus a handling charge charged by. the hospital, it would cost £1500.  I have not costed it to air ship as I think that it would be horrendously expensive, but we were considering shipping via sea.  we have not costed for the latter.  if you do get some costs, I would be interested to know what they are and via which method you are shipping/arranging them.

I will post any helpful info so we both will know. Hopefully those who have traveled overseas will share what they did.
I'll check with Kimal too. Thank you.

Wendy,

Check out the thread under:"just back from 3 weeks in the UK " by Yliebert.  They managed to order from Kimel in England.  I don't see many other posts from them so you might try to PM them.

Good luck!  So far I travel quite a bit both USA ( local clinics) and Europe via Dialysis at Sea.  I always worry if I bring everything, I might face some screw-up.
