What does it mean when the needle causes a really bad burn when it first goes in?

Twice now my needle has burned when it's gone in and has burned my arm making it feel like its been on fire for about 45 minutes after insertion.

Once it settles down, its okay.  Is the nurse hitting a nerve that's causing this?    It hurts like H!

Diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease at age 19.
Renal Failure at age 38 (2010) came about 2 hrs close to dying. Central line put in an emergency.
Began dialysis on Aug 15, 2010.
Creatine @ time of dialysis: 27. I almost died.
History of High Blood Pressure
I have Neuropathy and Plantar Fasciitis in My Feet
AV Fistula created in Nov. 2011, still buzzing well!
Transplanted in April, 2013. My husband and I participated in the Living Donor paired exchange program. I nicknamed my kidney "April"
Married 18 yrs,  Mom to 3 kids to twin daughters (One that has PKD)  and a high-functioning Autistic son

That has happened to me a couple of times and I thought it was hitting on a nerve too.

it could be a nerve, definitely...
Also, sometimes I find when they clean it with alcohol and it hasnt had time to dry, that burns too!

Oh boy, I'm glad it doesnt happen everytime.  But gosh, the burning sensation can reeeeeeeally make sitting there, uncomfortable!!!!             :puke;

Oh, yeah, nerve ending!  Feels like someone just set a flame thrower on you.  Watch were the needles are going in on the days it happens.  If it is one consistent spot, you can tell them not to use it anymore.

Yes, J lets me know when it is burning, and I back the needle a little & he says it is much better!
