Hey all,
I’ve been lurking for a while, okay for maybe like a year…I am real slow! Just a little about me, I am 49 year old male (to abide by the legal stuff here). I was diagnosed when I was in my 20’s, PKD. Dad had it, I have it, now son has been confirmed to have it. (yeah!). I was getting twice a year blood draws and it was getting a little annoying, when two years ago my general stated there was a friend of his he wanted me to meet, a Mr. Nephrologist. I started out two years ago at 40%, now down to 35%. My first general said when I was first diagnosed that I might live my whole life without any issues, liar!
I will be updating things as I settle in, I would like to become a trusted member of this forum, bring my life’s experience, a try not to irritate the heck out of the moderator by breaking any rules…two lessons I already learned…
1) When trying to update your profile I had to click on update profile then “tab” thru to select, not hover mouse over (weird huh!)
2) When trying to spell check, I clicked “spell check, (because I can't spell worth "you know what”) and poof, draft disappeared and this now is take two, weird huh, kinda’ like a super-secret test to see if I am worthy…(this time I started in Word then copied over) fool me once...fool me twice, ya'll know this one!
All for now…graduate from lurker/stalker to newbie member…

Howdy, Conchman! Somehow I can't see you with a price tag hanging off your straw hat.
It sounds like you have had a very proper initiation!
And I'm glad you have graduated.
We have PKD in our family. Husband and his sister both have it as their dad did. Also our daughter (who is now pushing 38). Bad news, though, it affects her liver, too. Bah! Nieces and nephews are too scared to be tested.
But then, they didn't offer to donate, either.

I am adding my quite belated WELCOME! Your name interests me, since I live in a territory where conchs reign supreme. How did you come by this name? In one of our sister islands, Anegada (I live in the British Virgin Islands) conchs are very prolific. There are even mounds of conch shells there. You will find a pict of some mounds at this address -

Thanks Bajanne, Carid. Bajanne, the name I hope shows my love for all tings' Caribbean. I did see that you reside in the islands. My wife and I have traveled, always with an island in mind. Cayman's, Abacos, however we always end up back in St. john. We have already booked for this October, a villa called Alta Vista. Coming down with the daughter and son in law, and two of the 4 grandkids. I know that in a few years we may not be able to make it down, so I wanted at least one big trip with all of us. The PKD is starting to make things uncomfortable, constant rib shot's, tired a little more than I would like. Levels are still "ok" so we will still hopefully be able to enjoy ourselves. People ask what do we do on St. John, I tell them, I watch the waves come in, then watch the waves go out...I watch the waves come in, watch the waves go out....you know what I mean...
Thanks again, and who knows maybe someday we can meet up...island style...
