Yes, the kit comes with 13 aircraft (four fighters, six dive bombers, and three torpedo bombers), and it's possible to order more. I've added five of the planes (they're kind of tedious to build, so I only do one at a time) and I'll probably order a few more sets, because the Lexington could carry a lot more than 13 planes.

I just think it's cool that not only do you have the ship, but with the planes it makes it look more complete and functional.

Here is the carrier with most of the planes added (although I still need to do the U.S. Navy markings on the wings). The ink pen in the last pic is for size comparison. These bloody things have 10 to 15 separate parts each, and they are SO TINY.

The three types of aircraft in order: F4F Wildcat fighter, SBD Dauntless dive bomber, and TBD Devastator torpedo bomber. (The TBD really sucked. Most of them were shot down by Japanese fighters and anti-aircraft guns before they could even drop their torpedoes).

Adam?  How old were you when you started this hobby?  I have a Godson that i know would love to do stuff like this but he is only 10 (i think that is a little too young yet) but who knows right?   You do amazing work and thank you for sharing

Adam, my husband shares your model skills.  He is a plane fanatic, so focuses many on aircraft--lots of WWII planes.  He does great diaoramas. It is his stress reliever and has been working on models our whole married life. He has hundreds of boxes of models he will never put together. Recently, he went to a hobby store closing and came home with even more models.  But, he got such good deals! At least, that is what he tells me!  It keeps him busy and makes him happy-so I can't complain.  You do great work.  I am going to show him your pictures tonight. I know he will enjoy them.  I don't have the patience for all that fine work----I would much rather design wedding gowns and do beadwork on them!!   Thanks for sharing your hobby with us.

I think I was about 10 or 11 when I started, but I definitely didn't start with anything like what I do now. I basically started with simple, pre-painted snap together kits that could be built in just a few hours. I built models like those, and some slightly more advanced models for the next ten years or so. Here are some pictures of my first serious model that I really tried to do right, the U.S.S. Arizona. This was built about six or seven years ago, and I think it took about a month to build. I've just started cleaning and restoring it with modern brass details.

When I first started doing models, I built mainly airplanes. I haven't done any for years, but I decided to get back into it. Here are three WWII airplanes that I've been working on. First is a P-51 Mustang fighter, which was considered the best American fighter plane of the war.

Next is an SBD Dauntless dive bomber (one of the types on the carrier in one of my previous posts). I haven't done the markings yet, but those are coming soon.

Finally, my favourite. An A6M2 Zero fighter, Japan's best fighter of the war. This particular plane is modeled after the plane flown by the leader of the fighter pilots at the Pearl Harbor attack, Lt. Commander Shigero Itaya.

I do all kinds of stuff.  Here is a list of some of them that I really like!

Counted cross-stitch, crochet, scrapbooking, stamping & embossing, soap making, candle making, bath salts and ceramics (I haven't done this in a while).

I really should take up writing again, so at least I'd be doing something.

I haven't written fiction in YEARS. Not sure how I'd go anymore. These days it's all short dog stories, or articles for club newsletters and things, I can whip one of those up in no time. But when I think about writing a story, my mind just goes blank. That bank of creativity I had when younger seems to have dried up.

As well as you write here, Cyco, you'd be a great storyteller! That's my favorite form of the written word, short sthories. They are the hardest to write, and when done well, they are excellent!!
