The USS Oregon model is pretty much done (just a few very small details here and there left to do). This kit has been around since the 1950's, and the quality of the parts really shows it's age. The brass railings and other details really make a difference (the original railings are solid plastic ridges that don't look anything like ship's railings). They are a bit more tedious to work with, but the improvement is well worth th effort.

I do a lot of my model work while I'm on the machine. The shelf that doubles as a workbench for model building is on one side of my bed, and my machine is on the other, so I can easily do model work and not have to move around much and risk kinking my lines, interrupting my blood flow, or yanking my needles out. Now THAT would suck, considering I've already hosed one model down with blood  :oops; while I was pulling my needles one time.

Here's some of what I've been making while I'm on my NxStage.  They are made out of polymer clay that bakes in the oven.  The little wire loops are to hold photos, recipes, etc.  These are pics of ones I've already sold.

Those are cool.  Do you just sell them online or do you go to craft fairs and flea markets?

I sell them at a couple of gift shops - one that I work at that belongs to a friend of mine, and also in gift area of the lobby of my dad's restaurant.  I also have friends with a seasonal pumpkin barn, and I put a lot of different quilts and crafts there when they open in the fall.

I started with a really great instruction book by an artist named Dinko Tilov.  Some of the ones in the pics, like the knight and dragon, are pretty close to his lessons.  The rest, I make up as I go along.  I like doing the little old men - my "Harold" angels -  the best - the clay just sort of directs itself while you are shaping it.  I like making up my own critters better than following the book's lessons - it's more fun to do original stuff, but I'm doing all the lessons just to learn his techniques.

If I ever get far enough ahead to sell any online, I'll start taking orders here!  Right now, the friend who owns the gift shop is buying them from me as fast as I can sculpt them.

Not a Brit but I am a huge Doctor Who fan.  I am loving the new series and though I haven't gotten to see it yet I Tivo'd Torchwood the new Doctor Who spinoff that just started.  I don't belong to any Doctor Who chat groups, but would always be wiling to talk about the good doctor.

Here's a parody of Dr Who fans from the show The Chaser's War on Everything: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1fUfbkopuo

:) I don't really think this way about Dr Who fans at all, I just thought it might be good for a giggle.
