I don't think I posted these photos yet, I took them in La Jolla, Ca. during transplant weeks.
I wish I had more time to take photos and edit them!

Nice photos. I forgot about my photo hobby. I was a certified professional photographer several years ago, and owned my own portrait studio. I worked a full time night job and ran my studio during the day, and weekends. After about 6 years, I just wore out. I would have loved to quit my job, and just ran my studio, but building up the business took all my savings. If I would have had some savings, I could have done it. Of course, being self employed, I would not have had benefits like my other job provided. I decided to sell my studio. I didn't even keep a camera, and didn't want one. People were always asking me to shoot things for them, and I simply told them that I didn't even own a camera. It's been long enough that it's safe for me to own one now, and I'm getting back into photography as a hobby now. I hope to get many pictures of my motorcycle travels this summer.

There is something about photography that makes me love it.  Maybe it's capturing a moment in time or just the art of it?  The new series on Discovery Channel is a great example, simply fantastic!

Just a reminder the pictures need to be 640 x 480 not any larger.

Not long now until I play guitar and keyboard in the Musical '8 Miles High. It's about a group of young people in the audience of a rock concert in the summer of 69 somewhere in England.  I'll post pictures which I'll get taken at the dress rehearsal. I've not seen our (the band) costumes yet but I've told the wardrobe lady I want a braided cavalry jacket similar to the one often worn by Jimi Hendrix,
ridiculously flared pants and big big hair!, which will be a bit of a bonus considering I'm nearly bald! This is probably my last chance to re-live my youth 'cause I was there the first time round. (Sad or what?)  :beer1; :beer1;

After running into problems with the wing on my first plane, I went and bought another until I can get the first sorted out. Here it is, a Sig 4 Star 60, looks like I will get to have my maiden flight this weekend!

Hey Joe Paul, when are you going to up the ante and get into a real kit plane, some type of ultralight? My husband's a pilot and right now he's also working for an AME and they're building a couple of ultralights. They also have a lot of ultralights come in for service, as well as certified aircraft. Why don't you get your pilot's licence? It would be SO much better to fly them, don't you think?

Ken, my husband also plays a strat and does ALOT of Hendrix as well as Stevie Ray Vaughn. I love to hear him play, except I'm not a big fan of Voodoo Chile (too noisey for me). I like Fire the best...Good luck at your gig!

#1. Would be nice if I could afford a real plane
#2. I doubt I could pass the physical requirements for a pilots license
#3. I'm happy with doing what I do, close as it comes to the "real" thing

My primary hobby is building scale models. I primarily do trains, but I also do some ships and aircraft. Here are some pictures of my collection:

First is an overall view of my steam locomotive collection. (The pistol that's slightly visible on the bottom shelf is part of my OTHER hobby: target shooting)

p.s. I hope my dietitian doesn't see the Dr. Pepper can (lousy phosphorous) >:D

Next is a close up of my favourite locomotive model. I've been continually working on this model for the last 7 years (adding and changing a detail here and there). It is based on an actual locomotive on display (and operational on occasion) at the Indiana Transportation Museum. I spent the summer of '99 as a volunteer at the museum working on that engine.

Finally is a series of "in progress" pictures of my current project that I'm working on during dialysis, the S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien. I should have it finished in another day or two. I only have a few small details left to do.

Do the trains run on tracks, too?  I love those little landscapes with the mini electric trains.

I've just completed the model of the O'Brien (almost). I only have to do the rigging, which is simply adding thread to simulate the cables for the cargo cranes.

Three of the steam locomotives actually run (the small switch engine on the bottom shelf on the right, and the one in the middle, which is my favourite). I have a third that runs, but it's out of the picture. The other three steam models are display only (and A LOT less expensive). All of my diesel models (which I have about ten of, but I don't have any pictures of them) are operational. I don't run any of them however because I don't have anywhere to run them.

How in the world do you manage to make those models while on dialysis. I do not enough room to keep a drink and a book much less work on a model at my clinic.  How do you do it?

Two words: VERY CAREFULLY. Basically, I take up both little tables on each side of the chair, both arms of the chair, and my lap. I've gotten pretty good at doing it despite the lack of space and awkward position.

Here is a picture of a quilt I just finished.  The pictures are colored with crayon and it is then ironed to set the colors.  The border is Newfoundland tartan.  The pictures are all relavant to Newfoundland.
