Hobbies and stuff

Hi I was just wondering what hobbies if any people had, since being diagnosed my wife and I have, got an allotment and started growing our own veg, Ive started making my own wine .

my wife has started making her own jewelery and I have bought a metal detector and I am just waiting for some good weather before going on my first treasure hunt.

I sure as hell don't have the kind of energy to hold down the jobs I used to do, so hobbies kind of fill the gap.

So has anyone got any hobbies? thinking of starting any ?

Ive been into radio control airplanes and trucks for many years now. It takes lots of energy and concentration to enjoy these hobbies, which I didn't have due to beginning stages of kidney failure. This year I plan on getting back into it, here is a picture of one of my trucks, also in the background a wing from one of my airplanes. (that wing is 6 feet long BTW)

I saw one of those giant planes being flown on TV, they're really expensive apparently.. looks like a great hobby

Initially it is quite expensive but maintenance  isn't to bad.

I moved to the UK in 1985, and when we bought our house the next year, I was confronted with maintaining the first garden I'd ever had.  I had never been into gardening, and having been born and raised in Texas didn't prepare me for gardening in England.  But I grew to love it, and truth be told, my garden is the one thing I miss the most about my life in Surrey.  Before I left, I took a whole role of pictures of it, and those pics are one of my most treasured possessions.

I now live in the Upper Midwest, and gardening here is so different.  I had SO wanted to recreate an "English Country Garden", but its just so difficult since the summers and winters are both so severe.  My back garden is more forest than grass (which is rather nice in itself), so I've planted over 600 English bluebells.  Unfortunately, the first 300 never flowered, so under the terms of the nursery's guarantee, I got 300 more for free which I planted last autumn.  I don't know if any of them will EVER bloom, but I tried.

I like growing herbs; I've got lots of thyme and English lavender.  I'm still learning how to garden in this part of the world.

I also like reading.  I'm currently reading "Suite Francaise".  Whenever a gift-giving holiday comes around, I always ask for books.  I've got tons of books yet to read.

I've been into so many crafts & disliked only one, quilting & that was probably because I didn't like the teacher.

My two favorites were sewing & stained glass & maybe jewelry making too, I did like that a lot.

Then about 7 years ago I started selling on eBay & the hobbies stopped & eBay took over. I'll list about 100 auctions & when they close I'll wait a week or two & list again. So I guess eBay is my current hobbie.

Hi moosemom, I live in surrey, if there is anything english and in bulb or seed form, maybe I could send you some, I don't like england but I like English country side and gardens......

yes epoman, it does seem to be a very successful hobby.

I guess my hobby is also IHD.  Anything a person spends a couple of hours a day doing must meet the definition of a "hobby."

Before Christmas I was knitting hats and slippers but I haven't touched a piece of yarn in a month.

My two dogs keep me busy.

Trying to sell my house keeps me busy because I have to keep it clean just in case someone wants to see it.

And, I keep punching away at typing my Father's letters to my Mother during WWII.

This is so true, but, you have to keep in mind when that plane bites the dust, or the truck, sometimes you have to start from scratch. Not a matter of "IF", but when

Well lets see how bout these computer things.  Like building, configuring, upgrading, and generally playing with them.  We've come a long way since the VIC 20. Building networks is fun as is experimenting with wifi. Ever war drive the I5 from LA to San Francisco? Ham radio is also a neat hobby that I've been into for about 37 years now...too long. Oh another fun thing that is almost a hobby is planning trips and obsessing over the absolute best deal when doing that.  If it isn't cheap why bother?

I remember the older planes never landed safely you had to rebuild them almost after every landing.

I think the only hobby i have is collecting movies, that is the only reason i buy the sunday paper, to see what deals are out there on DVD's

War driving huh? Let me guess you have built a wi-fi booster out of a "Pringles" can AND you read 2600 (the magazine)

I have spent a billion hours the last 4 years learning all about kidneys and dialysis and transplants
but it's not a very relaxing way to spend time. My hobby is photography. I hope to have more time

Graveyard is Taos Pueblo, Taos, New Mexico. Sunflower is in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Im DYING for this weather to break, and want to get back into flying again this year. Bad part is that the planes I have are "advanced" flying, and since ive been out of the groove for the past 2 years, I need to buy a plane thats just a little bit "slower". This plane is what will get the job done. Its a Golberg Models Decathalon

okarol, I love those pictures!

I have two dogs and five cats who keep me busy. If I'm not trying to tire out my ADHD dachshund, I'm cleaning up after them. My house is in serious need of decorating and my little landscaped area always needs the weeds pulled and things divided and moved.

I think those are mostly to-do tasks though! For hobbies, I walk and am starting to slowly ramp up to walk my fourth marathon next fall, and I cross-stitch in front of the tv.
