My latest WWII airplane, almost complete and waiting for markings. It's a Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber. This was the largest single engined, carrier based aircraft of the war. The paint on the model came out a bit rough, and I'm trying to come up with a way to fix it before I do the markings, without having to completely strip it. That would risk messing up the nice paint on the cockpit canopy frame.

I've posted a lot about my models, but I haven't mentioned one of my other hobbies (technically multiple "sub-hobbies"), which is shooting. I do target shooting, and some small game hunting usually with high powered pellet guns, but occasionally firearms as well. The shooting hobby I'm most active in, however is airsoft. For those who've never heard of it, airsoft is very similar to paintball, but the guns are exact replicas of actual police, military, and civilian firearms. The guns shoot 6mm plastic pellets or 6mm paintballs, and they are either spring powered, gas powered (CO2 or a gas similar to propane that comes in a pressurized cylinder), or powered by an air pump run by a battery powered electric motor. Airsoft can be played on private land, or a designated paintball/airsoft field. We also use equipment similar to what's used by police and military forces (vests, helmets, radios, etc.). I usually play it with friends down in Southern Indiana where my best friend's grandmother has a huge area of land that we can use for different types of shooting. The only change I've had to make since starting dialysis is wearing a protective guard over my access. The airsoft pellets are plastic and they rarely break the skin, but a dead on hit in my graft could be unpleasant. Of coarse I have to show pictures  :lol;

Me holding and aiming my airsoft sniper rifle, with my airsoft tactical vest and sidearm (I also have a helmet and safety goggles that I use when I'm actually shooting/playing the game)

A few of my different guns. The old revolver in the last pic was my grandfather's favourite gun. The last time it was fired was about 30 years ago, and I'm working on restoring it to firing condition.

In order:

Winchester 800X high powered pellet rifle
AR-15 airsoft assault rifle (this gun now has and electronic scope on it)
Daisy 15XT CO2 powered BB pistol (Not very accurate, and kind of banged up, but still fun to shoot)
G36C airsoft assault rifle
Super 9 Pro airsoft sniper rifle (my favourite airsoft gun)
H. Schmidt .22 cal revolver (antique)

Awhile ago I posted pics of the Queen Mary 2 model I've been working on (the HUGE ocean liner). At one point I mentioned I had "a couple weeks" till it was done. Well, that "couple weeks" turned into six months and it STILL isn't 100% done (granted I've taken some time off here and there). With a kit that has well over 500 pieces, things just keep adding up. Right now I mainly have touch up painting and some markings left to do. Anyhoo, here she is.

 :cuddle; :cuddle;

So good to be back on this thread since I was always impressed with everyone's hard work here.  I must say to all of you who posted pics of your crafts, they look great and I am very impressed.

Now last time I was here, I know I mentioned my hobbies were photography and writing and I even posted a link a long time ago to my nature photo album but because of our high medical bills, I cannot spend the money on photography.

I have other hobbies too.  Reading is one of them and I am currently reading the Stephenie Meyer Twilight Series about Bella and Edward and I just cannot wait to see the movie that is coming out late this year.  I am on her third book called Eclipse.  I loved Twilight and New Moon.  After finishing this book, since her WIP book called Breaking Dawn won't be out until later this year, I will read both Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and My Life by Bill Clinton which are both big books so that will keep me busy and then I have to reread my Harry Potter books so I can read Goblet of Fire, Order of Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and her latest one as well as the Spiderwick Chronicles and Lemony Snicket series.

It is going to take time to do all this since my studies consume me and I will be starting my pre-clinical time next month which will take up a lot and then my Abstract Algebra is killing me which I have a test next week...UGH!!!!  I do have to do my reading though to unwind.

I am also obsessed with Mick St. John/Alex O'Loughlin and I even run a facebook group on him located at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6247924639

I have written some fanfiction based on his character and I am going to open a blog at a personal website where I can post all this so that everyone can read it.

You all seem to have such varied and cool hobbies. I have a couple myself. I like to collect coins, fish and grow orchids. Collecting coins and fishing are fun, but growing orchids, especially buying orchids is addictive. Currently, I have somewhere between 175 and 200. :bandance;

I hope the show "Moonlighting" continues. Jenna's sister loves it. Jenna also loves writing fan fiction, and she's currently busy with Mystery Science Theater.

Hey, Uni - is there any real value to old wheat pennies?  I've got a handful my dad collected over the years.  Are they worth anything more than a penny each?
