Dear Members, Premium Members, and Guests,

"January 2007" was a BIG month for IHD, it was the month that we broke ALL of our previous records. We had the most number of new posts, the most number of new topics, the most number of new members, the most number of hits in a single month, the most number of hits in a single day, the most number of users online at once, and not one day in January had passed and we not have at least 115 new posts for the day. In fact we averaged 175 NEW posts EVERYDAY in January. When most other dialysis message boards were lucky if they had more than 10 new posts in a day.  :o

IHD is growing at an amazing pace and I would like to thank all of you for making it what it is today. This site truly is the biggest and most active dialysis support group (community) on the Internet. I would like to share some statistics with you so you have an idea of what I mean when I say we are the biggest and most active.

Here are the statistics for the top dialysis message boards on the Internet as 02/01/2007

http://www.globaldialysis.com - 14,603 Posts in 1,955 Topics (However most of these posts were transferred from the now offline site "Dialysis Online")
http://www.davita.com - 4,728 Posts in 1,158 Topics
http://www.homedialysis.org - 12,404 Posts in 1,354 Topics
http://kidneypatientguide.org.uk/ - 20,622 Posts in 2,226 Topics
http://groups.msn.com/DialysisTransplantCity - 4,964 Posts in n/a Topics
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/dialysis_support/ - 56,172 Posts in n/a Topics (However that number of posts is going back since Aug 1999, 8+ years.)

All of the sites mentioned above have been online for years.

There are MANY other dialysis message boards on the Internet such as kidney.org and countless others, however I did not include them in the above list if they had less than 5,000 posts, however I did include "Davita" and "D&T City" because they were close to the 5,000 minimum.

Now the Stats for http://www.ihatedialysis.com

35,803 Posts In 2,503 Topics in just 18 months (a year and a half) of our Grand Opening back in August 06, 2005

Here are some more stats for you to see:

In January 2007 ALONE IHD had:

5,413 New Posts - Over 5,400 NEW posts in ONE MONTH! :o  :beer1;

That is unprecedented, no dialysis message board has EVER gotten that many posts in a single month, EVER! In fact no dialysis message has ever gotten 35,000+ Posts in the first 18 months. Here all the rest of the January 2007 stats:

336 New Topics
128 New Members
39 Members Online at Once
229,043  Number of Hits - Nearly a Quarter of a MILLION hits in ONE MONTH!

Just for fun, let me show you the Stats for January 2006 (last year, same time)

January 2006

189 New Posts
37 New Topics
10 New Members
16 Members Online at Once
15,689 Number of Hits

 :o As you can see we have grown quite a bit in a years time.

On behalf of the IHD team, we would like to thank you all for making IHD the best site on the net for dialysis patients. And remember IHD is a site FOR patients by patients. This site is RUN by patients and not governed by corporate sponsors.  :thumbup;

- The IHD Admin Team:

Epoman - Owner/Admin
goofynina - Co-Admin
Rerun - Moderator
bajanne2000 - Moderator
sluff - Moderator

 :grouphug;

P.S. I know some of you may be thinking "Oh boy here goes Epoman bragging again about his site blah, blah, blah." well if my bragging upsets you, I'm sorry. I am just very proud of what we have created here, and all of the hard work and many, many hours I spend working on this site and all the sites in the IHD Family. We are the biggest, most active, a true community, not bad for a site created by a patient.

That's AWESOME!!  :2thumbsup; I've been telling everyone on other dialysis forums, but I know that doesn't make that big of a difference...But every little bit counts!! That's great news though!!!

Congrats.

Well you can't really compare D&T City against IHD because of so many things. It is run by a very busy Dialysis nurse in Ohio who doesn't have as much time to invest like you do. Also it is an MSN group, not an actual web site, so he doesn't have full control over everything like you do. For example: He had  a chatroom but just because MSN decided people should just use MSN Messenger, MSN Groups got rid of the chatroom.

  • I think your site is such a success because you have full control over everything,
  • you spend so much money on your site from everyone's memberships that help you out,
  • you invest 8 - 10 hrs per day into it,
  • you come up with new surprises every month,
  • your site name is one that if people search for hating dialysis they get your site,
  • you have extra sites that interest people and link back to IHD which helps a lot.

Congrats on the start of the new year being better than the last! Looks like January is the start of a good year in more ways than just people getting transplants!!  :wine;

And you should be proud of this site.  It is one of the few sites where telling it like it really is will not get you banned or the post will not be pulled from the line up.  Kidney disease is not a joke and it is something that is a tough road for the patients.

 :bandance; I just wanted to mention how great IHD is doing and give Epoman a "virtual" pat on the back for creating such an incredible site. We averaged 251 NEW posts EVERYDAY in October -- That's 7771 posts in a single month! AND... there was a record breaking 404 New Topics. Sluff or Goofynina, I don't have the number for new members in October but I know there were a lot! The amazing number of hits was 341,172 IN ONE MONTH!!   :clap;

 :2thumbsup; Yeah Epoman, we're NUMBER ONE BABY!  :2thumbsup;

The dream is alive and well! We miss you Epoman, but your amazing admins and mods are doing a great job.   I think one impressive fact is the long term members-those who have been here since almost the beginning.   And Rerun, she was a member when there was only 3 members!!  We have some very loyal members which show how well the site is working.   :thumbup;
