Just introducing myself here.   I have Secondary FSGS and have known I have it for about 6 years now.  My Kidney doctor said I had about 2 to 4 years before I start dialysis and it's been 6.   Looks like I will be starting in the next few months or sooner.  My GFR was 11 last visit with him.

I'm alone now so it's a bit stressful and scary, hopefully this coming summer I'll be moving to Calif to be near family, that should help me emotionally.

Moved to WA to be one with nature 13 years ago before I knew I had a kidney disease.    I'm 63 years old and just don't understand how someone my age is supposed to feel.  I don't feel "old" mentally.

I could go on and on but that's pretty much all I can think of saying right now.  Oh Thanks to my buddy on Inspire I found this website.

 Welcome, Riverwhispering!  You're 63 and have a serious illness to deal with.  That doesn't mean you should feel old.  Your mind is as young as the day you decided you you wanted to be closer to nature.  Don't let this dialysis stuff drag your spirit down.  Now that you've discovered this forum, you're among people you will help you through the difficulties of this journey.  All the best to you.

Hi, River! Welcome to the "family" here at IHD!

You know, I'm not far behind you with age (60) and the face in the mirror takes me by surprise sometimes!  :rofl;

Inside I'm not nearly that old.  :clap;

And you certainly aren't alone, because you have this huge support group with you now.  :2thumbsup;

I do understand about wanting to be near family, though. Our daughter lives 850 miles away.....much too far.....

Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome River.  I was alone in CA and moved to WA to be near family.  Sound familiar?  I'm so glad you found us.  This is a great site.

Stick with us.   :cheer:
