Going through life tied to a chair!

Hello, and welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you found us.  They have determined your 82 year old mom/dad needs dialysis.  Well, dialysis filters your blood of high toxins and extra fluid just like your natural kidneys.  If you don't do dialysis the toxins will build and eventually kill you.  You do have the right as an individual to deny dialysis.  It is not an 'easy' life but thousands of people live on dialysis everyday.

First they will place an access for the blood to be cleaned.  Lots of times if a caregiver wants to learn they will talk to you while they hook up the patient and explain how the machine works etc.

Hope this helps.
